Black Sugar Rose (Delicious), Witches Wedding (Seedsman), Midnight Mass (Piff Coast Farms), NL #10 (Sunwest)

Moved the tent inside the house today and got everything set up including the humidifier. Got Rapid Rooter and used that along with CloneX to hopefully root 12 cuttings from the SSH/AG. First time dealing with clones so I hope I did it right. Sterilized the shears, cut at an angle, dipped the cuttings in CloneX and then dipped them in the Rapid Rooter sitting in 1/2 inch of PH'ed water inside the germinator boxes. Also put a fan inside the greenhouse. Will add a timer to that fan this week. Need to cut a couple vents inside the greenhouse for ventilation this weekend as it will continue to get hotter. But other than that I am ready to go. Waiting for the Piff seeds to come in and will sprout those in the Rapid Rooter. This time in the tent I put the inline fan on the floor to make room to get the lights as high to the ceiling as possible. Anticipating big stretch for these haze plants. Aiming to add 4 or 5 in the greenhouse including a few of the cuttings and the future Piff plants along with 3 more Piff plants into the tent. 20240407_105336.jpg20240407_162709.jpg20240407_162759.jpg

Growing takes a lot of time and effort. Mostly it takes time. After all that time you want to make sure you grew some bud that gets you high AF. May have to figure out here what seeds get to be a part of this grow and what do not but I definitely want to make sure I grow at least a couple of these in this summer/fall harvest.

Continue to have problems sprouting seeds. I took these Katsu seeds, 3 of the Harlem Shuffle and 1 Moses 5 x Platinum Kusk and one sprouted. Did the wet paper towel in plastic ziplock bags and even put them on top of a heat mat on low setting since Monday. I put the other 3 that didn't sprout in a cup of water and will just pop them straight into the Rapid Rooter with the heat mat under it. 20240410_200048.jpg

I think that the way things are going if this greenhouse plant keeps flowering until the end of May I might be able to harvest by then. However increasing sunlight is becoming a problem and we are past 12 hours of daily sunlight now. So I attempted to limit the amount of direct light by taping some Amazon boxes in the greenhouse walls. Perhaps this will slow down any attempts to veg and I can harvest this sucker by Memorial Day. Let's see what happens.

I'm not really particularly bad at anything unless it's sprouting seeds. I completely suck at this shit. 4 seeds in a moist paper towel. One broke its tap root. Then planted these 4 in Rapid Rooters on Wednesday night. Not even the one with the tap root has popped up. I seem to be better at cloning. Clones are doing relatively better, just a few casualties. I have placed the remaining 4 Katsu seeds (2 Harlem Shuffle, 2 Moses X Platinum Kush) in Ph'ed water with 10% hydrogen peroxide. Going to do the paper towel thing over the heat mat and then plant those in soil in a few days. The 2 Sugar Black Rose are growing a little bit, one more than the other. 20240413_182259.jpgResized_20240413_181343.jpegResized_20240413_181405001.jpeg

Ouch, not that this will help, but I was 2/2 with my Harlem shuffles. Shot glass of water for 24 hours and then very shallow into soil. Good luck hope you get some going

I tried dipping the 4 remaining Katsu seeds I have left and then put them overnight in a mix of 1 part hydrogen peroxide 3% and 10 parts PHed water. After this I put them in a paper towel but this time in a tin old watch box. Covered the box. Then I put the box over a book over the heat mat. I am pretty sure I was roasting the seeds with the heat mat. That thing is definitely not 85 degrees more like over 100 degrees. After checking on them after day and a half they all busted their tap roots. I am going to bury these guys this time in soil. But this time I am going to put the germination box over 2 books over the heat mat. I also fished out the 4 previous Katsu seeds that will not germinate. I put those back in the hydrogen peroxide and water mix and just put them in the tin box over the book and heat mat. Anyway from now on the tin box with the paper towel over the book and heat mat is going to be the new thing. Also it's important to use room temperature water for the paper towel and the overnight seed dip. Probably the same applies to watering. Before I used straight tap water or even bottled water from the fridge. I was likely making the temperature too cold for germination. These things are highly sensitive to various things including temperature.

Mr Nice SSH have come in and I will be putting those in the hydrogen peroxide mix as well. 20240415_190028.jpg20240415_185937.jpg20240415_193728.jpg20240415_185248.jpg20240415_185302.jpg

14 hours post plant. Watered approximately every 4 hours using PH medicine dropper from PH up/down kit using the same water + hydrogen peroxide mix sitting at room temp. Humidifier is on next to germ box. Sprouts.jpg

All the Mr Nice SSH have popped their tap roots. Planted these in the soil. Of the 4 Katsus I did plant, 2 of the Harlem Shuffle have popped (top), while only 1 Moses has popped. These seem very slow to spread their leaves as they have been stuck like this for a few days. Hopefully they are just rooting. The 4 Katsus I originally tried to pop their tap roots have been burnt by the heating mat.

The 2 Black Sugar Rose are moving along with one doing much better than the other. Greenhouse SSH is still flowering. Will move these clones to their forever pots this weekend. 20240419_075153.jpg20240418_142044.jpg20240417_190736.jpg20240417_190730.jpg20240417_185856.jpg

Another shot after the SSH have been planted (bottom row and second from the right, middle row). Can see the 2 sprouts sticking out. Although they do look very pale. Closeup shots also allow me to see how saturated the soil is or has become. 3 remaining spots (dry) will be used for the Midnight Mass. But I have another germinator available as well. The Katsu's are very slow going I must say. Takes 3 days for even the leaves to partly unfurl and they are still not totally opened up yet.20240419_112410.jpg

Biggest lessons learned so far : 1) heating mats are too hot. Too hot to hatch seeds by putting them right over the top. You will nuke the seeds if you do this. Need to either get another thermostat for the heater or put books on top to defray the heat. Shit is definitely over 100 degrees. I bet the ideal temp is around 80 to 85 degrees. Heating mats seem okay for rooting clones but if you put water on the bottom of the tray over the heat mat. Still need to make sure heating mat won't nuke the clones.

2) Hydrogen peroxide works in hatching seeds. To use for the shot glass soak as well as the paper towel thing.
But must be room temp and Ph'ed. 3% solution around 1 part to 10 parts water up to 1 part to 5 parts water. Also putting the seeds in dark container works better than putting the seeds inside a plastic bag while you're doing the paper towel thing.

3) Rapid rooters are good for rooting clones. Not so much for hatching seeds.

Yes! Heat mats definitely need a controller with sensor to work properly, ime. Good notes.. I usually set the sensor at the bottom of the center pot, the hottest spot.

Transplanted the clones today. 2 weeks of rooting and all the clones made it. Substantial amount of rooting using these Rapid Rooters. Greenhouse SSH has some weird growth on the top bud. Wondering if it's not starting to reveg. I moved 4 of the clones into the tent while rest are going in the greenhouse. Topped the bigger Black Sugar Rose. 20240421_145125.jpg20240421_145129.jpg20240421_160744.jpg20240421_161157.jpg20240421_145125.jpg20240421_145129.jpg20240421_160744.jpg20240421_161157.jpg20240421_160752.jpg20240421_161206.jpg20240421_132409.jpg20240421_132444.jpg

This is why I am growing. This is an example of what passes as top shelf at my dispensary. Notice the live rosin. I can't even just smoke the best weed in the dispensary to get high anymore. I have to smoke concentrate on top of the weed to feel a buzz. And that's a buzz. Not high, not stoned, buzzed. The buds do look good however. 20240422_160526.jpg 20240422_160526.jpg20240422_162423.jpg20240422_160517.jpg

Big shout out to Piff Coast Farms. My first order was lost by USPS. PCF was nice enough to send me a replacement. But... they also threw in a couple of their Harlem Dreams S1!!! I was about to get this strain but wasn't so sure about spending an extra $100 for these. Now I will get to grow 2. I popped both Harlem Dreams along with 3 Midnight Mass in the water + hydrogen peroxide mix. Will do the entire germination thing. These are going to finish the collection for my grow this summer. Can't wait to see the outcome. Thank you PCF!20240422_121450.jpg
