yeah the poles, didnt think of that one either. well then you have to think, what kind of vegetaion thrives up there. im pretty sure, cannabis doesnt grow wild, and isnt that 24 hour thing just for like a couple of days, it not for a whole season is it?
Yeah, cannabis doesn't grow wild, never did. Some aliens 10,000 years ago showed up in asia and india and russia and handed out potted marijuana plants with 1,000w HPS's.

I am subscribed. My sister is a bio chemist. She was a professor at one of the most popular colleges. Cool thing is, she use to toke, she don't know more, because the lifestyle she chose, does not involve drugs.

I also have her Smarts, but I did not choose that lifestyle. What you wrote was awesome, and very interesting. You have my full support. And Might I say, your very lucky to get to do this type of study. I sure would have picked the cannabis plant to study too.

ok asf2j,
your head must be leaning to one side, looking like a plant following the light, but only because it is full of pure, amazing information you're gonna release on us like BP does oil into the ocean... only hopefully not as fast and with such dumbfounded aloofness!
It's been over two years mate, how'd it go? I'm sure you're a better human because of it, we just don't want to hear any, "I'm working for a major genetic corporation and signed a pile of non-disclosures so I have to keep my mouth shut." kind of thing!
Out with it... or that plump head is ours!!! ;-)

Lots of good info, some very specific chemistry I was certainly not aware of, thanks!

I had a question though, and I'll preface it by clarifying that I am by no means a biologist (other than the armchair kind). I read a dissertation a while back on classifications of plants. The paper was specifically about a class which (according to the author) indicated plants which do not require dark periods. I wish I could find it again, because some of the details are hazy, but I do remember it was a letter based system with maybe 4 or 5 classifications. Anyway, he basically listed a number of plants in this classification, which included cannabis. Basically the end result of the paper was that this classification of plant did not require a 'dark period' and in fact lay dormant during this period, and therefore would grow faster with no negative effects on a 24 hour light cycle.

Could you possibly explain where the discrepancy might be?

rofl, and then I notice this is a very old thread resurrected :) But if you happen to be hanging around still, perhaps you'll have time to answer :)
