Biggest Mistake I Won't Make Again.

Storing humidity box on top of T5 lights, forgetting it's there when raising the light and spreading seedlings across the room... Thankfully all have come back to growing, but they were pretty shocked by it, as was I :o

my biggest noob mistake was not reading or learning anything about plants before i started

i had a closet with 3 plants in the same pot under 2 incandescent bulbs about a foot and a half from the plants and no ventalation. after about a month when i realized i was a dumb shit my one of my plants had died, the other 2 were about a foot and a half tall, stem as thin as a toothpick, with only 2-3 sets of leafs, held up with chopsticks and string

i have come so far from there (like 7 yrs ago) and while ive had 2 harvested grows and i know most of what im talking about, i still have a ways to go

When I first tried hydro 8 years ago, I bought an expensive tri-meter like the one I have today. Except this meter showed the ppm value x10!!!

I couldnt understand why i couldnt get my ppm's higher.

I kept on adding nutes.

Within days my plants were fried.

I was so puzzled.

Didn't even know what I did wrong until I took a good look at the instruction manual several weeks later and realized then I gave them a fatal dose of nutes!! Can you say stupid ass? :wall:

My biggest mistake was showing my girlfriend my grow.
owh man that sucks

my biggest mistake was probably NOT starting with the best soil I could find (Fox Farms Ocean Forest)

I started with REAL soil a few weeks later and BOOM! NICE shade of green and great growth :hump:

Ill probably get a bag of FF light warrior to start seedlings in though, it seems like the small plants in FFOF struggle until that stem gets pretty thick

I've made a bunch...Used MG nutes (really harsh on the plants), used really hard water to the point of nute lockout, stopped using Nitrogen alltogether in flower (those two together killed all of my fan leaves, man were those buds small), overwatered, underwatered, let a caterpillar eat two young seedlings, harvested early... I'm sure I've done more stupid shit, that's off the top of my head.

My first grow was amazing.. other than I pulled two males out of the group and left them in the room to dry(not a good idea) for about 12 hours... that was just enough to let my nice sinse fems to get a tiny bit of seed... I was completly bummed to find out when I busted open the first bud... TOTAL Let down... Yeild was good though.. over a half lb. from 4 girls under CFL's..

I was wondering if everyone could share their biggest mistake they made when they began growing, just so others won't do the same.

I'll Start

One of my biggest mistakes was buying soil from wall-mart.
Is that the same soil you supposedly put in your DWC system and tried to make
a hybridized Hydro/Soil system?? HAHAHH I would think that would be one of your
biggest mistakes if you had actually done it.... Wahahaha

My biggest problem I had was that I believed everything on the Roseman thread regarding Bubbleponics.

It wasn't what was said, but the omissions.

What works in Michigan, may not work in the summertime in California. :bigjoint:
