well, during my first grow i took a number clones from one of the plants that got damaged. these took fine in a diy bubbler but after a month and a half , just before xmas, i noticed mould forming on the roots and they started turning red/brown. so, i took three more cuttings and placed them in my aerogarden. after returning from my xmas week away the cuttings were still alive and a after another week they began to root. i took one clone and placed it in my diy bubber under the 2 125watt cfls on a 12/12 cycle on the 6 Jan. the other two clones are still in the aerogarden going well on aerogarden nutes and the clone in flower is on max strength Optimum Bloom nutes.

Pics of the bubbler used in this grow shortly.

nice a 2nd one, ill be paying attention sir.
omfg damn brown algae... i pulled the clone from flower and stuck it back in the aerogarden. the diy bubbler and components was then soaked in bleach and the the tub was further light proofed. i've taken one of the other clones and that is now in the diy bubbler with just ph'd water, no nutes.

rez temps are getting way to hot so a bigger extractor fan is on the shopping list for tomorrow along with some beer cooler gel packs which i can freeze and place under the bubbler.

i got some pythoff today which i will be adding from next rez change to help control pathogens in the diy bubblers.

here are some pics of current setup.

Well I've had nothing but grief with these clones in my diy bubbler. Yesterday I had to remove the replacement clone from flower and stuck it back in the aerogarden. It seems perkier but still looks sorry for itself.

I am pretty sure most of the issue is light penetrating into the tub. So the clear tub wrapped in ducktape is in the bin. The airstones etc have been soaked in pretty much neat pythoff. They seemed to be the main growth area for the brown algea.

The tubs i am using now are the same as before but are a black plastic (still somewhat seethrough), so I have painted them white on the exterior. For the lids I glued on some mylar. So now the light penetration problem should be gone. Observation would seem to back this up.

Something I noticed when using this Pythoff with nutes and ph down the water turned milky white after a few hours and when emptying the tub you would see a huge amount of sediment.

So as of yesterday I have stopped using Pythoff and halved the nutes. I also bought a 250m3/h extraction fan to replace the 85m3/h. Today my freezer gel pacs turned up and are currently in the freezer. Tomorrow I will stick some under the tub to help keep rez temps down. Funny thing is tho the water temp in the ag can reach 30c and the plants don't seem to mind. What's even funnier is my water temps seem higher even tho its winter and my heating is off when compared to the first grow.

I'm just gonna sort some pics to post.

Nice! I'll just pull up a chair here up front and relax... this is going to be good...

We need to sort out your temperature problems mate, the res needs to be cool...

We'll find a way... but if we can't... I have a brand new can of worms just dying to be opened...lol...:-P

Best of luck mate!!!!

Hey Gypsy, glad to hear the op went well.

Temps in the tent have been much easier to control since I got the bigger fan. Also we have the worst snow in 20 years so its pretty cold. An almighty 6" and -5c overnight. pmsl and the country falls apart.

Anyhows I planted another blue cheese seed and a 5+year old bag seed. Both are now in the aerogarden along with two blue cheese clones. The clone in flower is doing well. No sign of brown algea or pythium.

All the best mate.

Great to hear Steve...

Glad your new fans are making your world easier...

I have had to deal with so me pretty extreme temp swings up here in AK....

It went form -35F/-37C to +46F/+8C in less than 36 hours... we had 6ft/2m of snow in front of the house, it all melted to glare ice...

I had blankets taped to the windows, heaters going day and night...

Then I wake up and it is 104F/40C in the shade!!!! (in the grow room I mean)

Crazy...!

Well, I am glad you have kept going...

What would be a good time for me to drop by with those cans of worms...???

I want to catch you on a good moment...:bigjoint:

Cheers Bro!!!

your worms are always good so hit me up :bigjoint:. as for catching me at a good moment you would have to wait till that prick gordon brown is no longer running our country hehe. that may be a while lol so bring on those worms. i wanna hear about your new setup anyhows.

i'm gonna stick another clone into flower tonight. its getting to big for the aerogarden especially with my two new additions. i was hoping to have two plants in flower but a month apart to try and get a perpetual harvest going but it hasn't quite worked out with the problems i had earlier.

how you doing btw?

Hey Steve...

The last 36 hours have been hell... to an aging hippie like me, who does not even take aspirin or any prescriptions at all... all of these heavy drugs they gave are too much...

36 hours in a fetal position, drinking water through a straw so I would have what to puke... (dry heaves just hurt too much)

OKOKOK enough of that nasty shit....

I am better and it is a BEAUTIFUL day in paradise... the Sun is shinning and the temperature is a balmy -35C.... nice day really!!!!

Stunning views of the mountains from where I sit... World Class....

and you can see wisps of snow blowing from the peaks... must be windy up there today....

As for the new set up....

I have changed it a few times over...

I have settled into something I like though...

Sea Of Green on ebb/flow trays...

I am quickly becoming a Fucthead...

Al B. Fuct's system is the perfect system for lazy stoners like me...

Get a harvest every 2 weeks

A batch of clones in rockwool

Al B. FAQt

I know it's like 4000+ posts, but well worth the read....

You can customize his system to fit one plant every two weeks or 100...

I have found that a bigger res is way more stable... mine now takes almost a week to require attention...

Res. temperature is almost a non issue, as the water quickly changes to the temperature of the media in your pots, which is typically cool due to the evaporation of the last flood cycle....

It's way ,more set and forget than my DWC experience was....

As soon as I can move about without much pain again, I'll make sure to sneak a few pics for you....

But here is one of the Fuct Style SOG Lollipops...

Cheers Mate...:bigjoint:

oooh gypsy sounds a bit ruff. are the drugs painkillers or antibiotics? anyway hope your feeling better today.

view beats mine then. i got a view of tesco supermarket and their car park. it is covered in snow tho hehe.

yeah i read that al b fuct a while back. i think you may have mentioned it on my last grow. yeah would be good to see some pics. what are you using the ag for now?

i may give the lollipopin a try. both the clones in flower are triple (or quad, can't quite remember) colas. it would be nice to get the lights concentrating on the main bud.

babies are sleeping this morning so i'll do some pics tonight hopefully.

oh yeah forgot to mention that the second clone i removed from flower is dead. not sure what happened exactly as i managed to save the first one that had a problem. probabaly caught it sooner. anyway the stem within the sponge rotted. so not sure what type of infection i had. roots didn't rot but there was some cotton fungus on the top of the sponge. i am now putting a small piece of mylar round all my stems now to stop light getting through the hole in the paper label.

I cannot complain about the views here in Alaska... everywhere is a postcard...

If you really want to see some pictures, I have this massive picture update on wheels that I could bring over here...

I just didn't want to bring in my whole parade unsolicited...

It has been proven AGRICULTURALLY that you will end up with the same yield in weight... you can choose 6 small fruit, 3 medium fruit or one HUGE FRUIT...

I prefer bigger buds, because I like them, and they are easier to trim....

babies are sleeping this morning so i'll do some pics tonight hopefully.
Cool!!!

Stem rot has nothing to do with light Steve...

It's just too wet!

My AG did that severely to my plants... until I figured that since the roots were in the water and I had the bubbles going... I just disconnected the pump altogether....

Best of luck mate... and let me know if you really want to see the pics....

Ah what the Hell????

I'll post it anyways... and apologize for the hijack..

here it goes...

This is an update by GypsyBush

Maintaining with Gypsy tradition, I have decided not to have a fixed journal...

My grow journal has taken a nomadic form, and you will find me pestering good folk everywhere with my non-sense and unsolicited BS...

Do not be surprised if you see this in more than one place... us gypsies are strange sometimes...

So I haven't posted much for pictures in a while...

The op has grown from an Aerogarden to something.. more....

Even the tent has been relegated to cloning station...

So.... I'll start with the bud that I am smoking as I type this...

Now.. here is a shot of the girls about ready for the guillotine ...

Group Shot!!!

Now we we'll take a peek at the individually...

I'll try to keep them in order...

Can you stand looking at them anymore????

the whole group again???

Here is the next generation...

Now here we see two very distinct types of bud formation...

The Stive is pure hair, while the Indica already has massive swollen calyxes...

Couldn't help to share this Gem from the miniatures tray... these are almost ready as well....

A Watermelon leaf spreads the good message....

and a Sunflower sheds a tear for my absence and pain...

and so this update comes to a close...

I will leave you with the view I had of the op as I went back to bed for a few more days....

Hope you enjoyed it....

Cheers...

Gypsy....:joint::peace:

sorry gypsy had to many beers and fell asleep. here are the pics.

No worries Mate...

Pics look good....

shit man you going commercial? that was a nice lot of bud porn. i love the baby bud shot.
That small one is the only I have left of that strain.... and it was the only strain I actually knew what it was...!!! I am a dumb ass....

That little dude is Juicy Fruit... the plant tha that came off of, tastes soooooo goood.... so that is a very special little bud...lol....

And no... Not commercial...

I just decided to make use of time and grow a bunch and then break it down til next year or something.... something...lol...

i'm off to check that sog thread.
Yeah man... I am having such good luck with the ebb/flow... 5 days without going in to the op and I find everyone thriving????

That is worth something in my book....lol....

Another thing that is funny is the fact that I used to be all about the multiple tops.. LST... and all that...

Now, I cringe when I have a clone with 2 shoots....

All I want now is single colas.... lots of little guys...

I am really having a good time perfecting these budsicles...

I think a little bigger might be even better... but I want them small enough that they only need the space the pot takes.... so I can really cram the m in the tray...

hiya gypsy. how you doing?

the multiple colas aren't from choice, just from pruning to stop them getting to tall when they were in the clone tub. i will definitely prune off the side branches tho in a week or so to maximise light penetration for buds forming on the main stalk.

bought some canna pk13/14 but it says to use it 3 weeks before harvest, so i've got a few weeks to wait before i can use it... maybe...

the new seeds in the aerogarden had seemed to have stopped growing and the bag seed had a slight problem in getting blown over. i think the stem may have got bent, so it's now loosely tied to stop it from blowing over under the fan. it's still alive and looks fine.

no roots yet on the 3rd gen clone but again it's still alive so fingers crossed.

i've two more bag seed, which i will refer to now as bag seed #1 and #2, in the paper towel. so i will hopefully have two bag seed #1, one bag seed #2, one blue cheese from seed and one blue cheese clone cooking in the aerogarden.

plan is to take clones from the bag seed, root them in my clone tub and stick them into flower to check sex. the blue cheese are fems so no worries with those.

still no probs with rez and air temps in the flower tent and the two blue cheese are going well on max strength Optimum Bloom. looking forward to giving them a dose of pk13/14 soon. they wake up in half an hour so i'll grab some more pics.

Make sure you clone them... lol..

I am struggling with cloning right now... it's harder than I thought, to have 20+ rooted clones every 2 weeks...:bigjoint:

No clue Steve.. I use the complete 3 pack and nothing else...

It will live... prop it for now, but you will soon notice that it will become the strongest point in the stem...

My AG has some beautiful looking lettuce right now... :-P

Cool... so when are you home making the first ebb/flow tray?

Nice.. no problems is always good...

pics from today.

Amazing growth mate... you are doing well...

I'm good thanks.

Yeah i can imagine trying to get 20+ clones rooted every two weeks being tough. From the clones i've done they take close to that just to start poping through the ag sponges. Now your using cubes you'd have to wait longer to see the roots. Do you use any growth promoters or nutes on the clones while your rooting them?

I've had another bag seed #1 crack and a small root is out but it hasn't grown any further. I've put it in the ag tho as i'm away tomorrow for a few days. Bag seed #2 hasn't cracked.

Still no sign of roots on the bc clone but the two seedlings are going great. The one with the wonky stem is now standing up without assistance and can handle the fan.
