Better ways to power and control cooling

I have been doing a lot of searching in the computer component sector and for all kinds of cheap and expensive controllers. I picked up a Kingwin FPX-002 for about $20. It can monitor and control 3 sets of fans. The temp. sensor looks like it is thin enough to fit under the corner of the COB holder. I will be interested to see how much a fan can help cool a heat sink.
Post up your ideas if you have anything else.

I knew on open box meant something was wrong. I was ready to mount the temp. sensors to the heat sinks and saw that one of the wires we're broken. Back to Fry's.

Temp sensor and fan controller makes sense for PC where the heat load is variable and depends on processor use. For DIY cob Lamp the heat is constant. I would prefer keeping the fan in active cooling always On and have a thermal switch to dim cob if fan fails.

Thia cobtroller may be good for a semi passive design. Good luck testing.

Unless you are running an AC unit, the room temps vary. They also have just fan controllers that can power multiple fans for less than $12.
