So i want to find out what is better then cfl's, obviously i know metal halide, hps, hid. Whats a good simple cheap fixture to buy other then cfl's also that can be used for veg/flowering if any lol or if i have to just change a bulb that is fine too. Oh and preferably not on the internet, the light will be growing 2 medium plants nothin big at all.Yea 2 plants is all im going to run at a time cause i have very limited space just big enough for 2 medium-large plants. Thank you

T5HO works, just need them really close.plus you can change spectrums for flower for blooms by changing bulbs.

leds can work(really expensive, and you need to have a balanced spectrum)

then obviously a electronic ballast for MH and HPS

edit---
im not pushing induction lighting or plasma until there cheaper and we see some great grow with amazing results

like nightowl says ...

go with T5HOs more efficient than CFLs, better light distribution, industry standard, and a very wide slection of tubes in all different spectrums.

if 60$ is expensive stick with cfls. even then for a good crop/yield you're spending near that on cfls/fixtures.

It seems like you bought a aquarium brand t5HO and got ripped off...

look into sunblasters t5ho,Really cheep, you can daisy chain 8 together off one timer, and again really cheep.

38plus tax for a 4ft sunblaster t5ho with reflector, probably cheaper in the states.
canada pays more for products

edit----
the 38$ price comes with a 6500k bulb

Check out my 2 threads you will find my homemade cfl fixture. About $150 total in it right now am running 430w with 19 23w lowes cfl's. this is all in a 2x2 grow and good luck.

Well if you don't want to order online might want to try lowes or home depot out. They have smaler hps systems(70 watts) that will work great in a small area with some added cfls will do much better than just cfls.

But to be honest some are recommending t5s yes they are great but I would use a hps or mh if I had to choose 1 light source.

I wouldn't say that cfls can produce some nice buds and can do so on a budget.

Using 430 watts of cfl in 1 fixture in a 2x2 area how hot does the bulbs get? I know you need some type of fan blowing on it or something. But if I'm going to run that much wattage why not just run a 400 hps or even a mh for that matter? You will be using the same wattage but getting more lumens per sq ft.
CFLs are toxic should/when they break. Time to get away from them. Replace with LEDs
L.e.d. are expensive to start up with and still lack in results.

If I'm spendinga $1000 on 1 light I would expect it to out yeild my 600 watt that I paid $140 for. Even after 2 harvest running the light covering the bill I would still be under $1000 dollars with way more buds then if I was using a led.

Add more cfls? I bought 150watt cfls from wm for lik 10$. 2700ks and 6500ks. Each has around 4000 lumens ea. I know wm has 24in t5s with a 7000k bulb that worked great for me for veg (I flower with hps and 4 150watt cfls) wen I vegged I used 5 of those lil 24in tubes 13wat in 75wat output. Ide just go get more cfls lil 13 watters are the shit. U can stick em anyweres
