better flick Apocalypse Now or Saving Private Ryan?

Platoon is my go to war move

but between Apocalypse Now and Saving Private Ryan, I don't know. Thyre both righteous in their own right.

I've heard some old vets say that Ryan was the best war movie ever made, AP was more of a dark fantasy flick. Hearts of Darkness was even better than AP, and I thought Full Metal Jacket was just amazing...

All the war movies mentioned so far are excellent...

Just for openers, they cured me of ever wanting to go near a war, let alone fight in one.

If there is no other option, I'll fight. But there is always another option.

The Siege Of Firebase Gloria is the funniest ever and very popular with usa vets

Hearts of Darkness, I read in college and was stoked when I found out it was the base to AP's story. That made me appreciate AP a little more. I learned F.F. Coppola within my film studies minor.

Full Metal Jacket was cool for a while, but I did 6 yrs in the Corp so it became Cliché after awhile.

Even better than Saving Private Ryan was Saving Ryan's Privates. Best movie I ever saw.

I can see that man,

I'll be sure to avoid the phantom badass, well until the end anyhow.

I think SPR was more authentic and realistic, and AN was a great but somewhat fantasy oriented art thing. One I speak from experience and the other from other's experience

My best buddies dad says hamburger hill was the most like his Vietnam experience. My dad doesn't talk at all about it! My grandfather escaped the Bataan death marches only to be recaptured again to spend the next few yrs in a japan pow camp. I'm sure he would have thought unbroken was the most like his experience.

Saving private Ryan is my favorite war movie. The forest gump war scenes are a close second. Best soundtrack for sure though!

G.I Jane. Enough said..

Two great movies ......but two very different wars.
AN was more about the characters than the war.SPR was about both...which makes better

Considering how well apoc. was written def apoc, but tbh they are prob both the best depictions of each war by far imho. the fucken air cavalry scene when they are surfing on "charlies beach" classic!

But have you seen the sequel, Shaving Ryan's Privates? You can catch it on a Tom Yanks double feature DVD along with Forrest Hump.
