Best Xmas Gift Ever

Yesterday morning at 8:30am Rocky Mountain time, I was cruising down the interstate at 70mph when I hit a patch of black ice covered in water. A strong gust of wind blew my F250 and I began fishtailing out of control before sliding off road, rolling a couple times and landing upright


Then I unbuckled my seat belt, opened the door and walked away untouched


My well-being is the best xmas gift I could've ever asked for

It was a company truck too, so no personal financial loss for me

I was headed toward the airport to catch a plane that left today at 11am, which I missed because I had to meet with the district manager & safety manager to do a root-cause-analysis

The company booked me another flight for tomorrow...10 hours of layovers, but the ticket was over $1,100 and I'll make it home Xmas morning at 9am


Plus the hotel I'm staying at had free beers for "manager's reception" night tonight


And my friend is about to pick me up (in a company vehicle) to go out...but I think I'm gonna convince him that we're gonna take a cab tonight!

Merry Christmas to you my friend. Very lucky indeed. If you worked for the company I worked for, you would have been given a drug test just for having an accident in a company vehicle.....

yup! got picked up by a guy from the company that worked out of that town's district shop that we were in....and went straight to the clinic for a drug/alcohol test and physical assessment...got cleared to work today without restrictions

side note: two employees, a girl that one of them had met and I all went out tonight and despite my suggestion that we take a charity sober-taxi home from the bar, they all drove drunk. They even drank beers on the way to the bar/strip club. The girl said "if you get me home safely I'll sleep at your place" to the driver
