I just got a microscope to view trichs. This is my 1st grow. What is the best part look at? should I just press the the microscope against the bud itself? or should I use a leave. Any pointers will definately help. :?:-?

If its a slide microscope take one individual flower and put in the the slide. If its a disection style "freekin sweet" than stick the bud in there. Try smooshing one and then try one without a plastic slide cover.

they can be hard to use but u will need to gently set it on the bud to get a steady view i have a 420 scope

that 420 scope looks badass. i have a 40x jewelers loupe but i don't like it much, so i ordered from uxcell.com a 160x-200x microscope for about ten bucks. hopefully it'll come in this week. i got it at such a strength so i can view individual trichomes a little better, though the 40x suffices.

mcpskills2000, do you mean which part of the plant you should view the trichomes? i use the leaves covered in glands as well as the bud itself to make an inference. i try to view as many of the heavy clusters of trichomes as i can, wherever they appear. the best way to get an accurate percentage of ripened trichomes is to compare as many as possible. one out of five ripe trichomes versus one out of fifty is a huge difference, so that's why it's good to look at several different places.

i just snip a small piece of leaf directly off the bud that is frosty with trichs. you only need a small clipping. don't smoosh the clipping. then put it on a piece of paper and view it at a table. the leaves I trim to view would have came off during trimming/harvest anyways.

Cool I got it. Thanks for the pointers. I just wanted to be sure.
