best way to kill a large tree without cutting it down?

found a great spot today for my bag seed......but there is maybe 2 large trees that are going to end up providing a lot of shade once they get some leaves on them this summer.

i was thinking about getting a hand drill and drilling a few holes in them then pouring salt into the holes...

anyone else have any ideas?

i suppose i could put something nasty on the ground too, i plan on using 5 gallon buckets for my grow, so the plants won't be in the soil.


i have a few more bugs to work out but its looking like this is going to be a good year, i really like my spots!!

You're thinking of POISONING the ground to kill a large tree? A large tree thats 30, 40 , 80? years old? Thats not gonna help public view of MJ growers.

This has to be the worst idea I have seen to date.... killing established trees so you can plant your grow under them.... think about this, bacon flying overhead in a helo, two dead trees with NO vegetation on them in a forest of green trees.... upon closer inpection, seems to be something growing beneath them....

Why not just put up signs, "No trespassing, weed growing in progress"?

And on another note, growers do not need any more BS publicity like this.

Dont KILL TREES, HUG THEM. and in my REAL OPINION. your KILLING SOMETHING thats BEEN LIVING FOR YEARS, AND COULD OUTLIVE YOU. for a plant that wont live past a year???? MURDER I SAY

Yeah I'd say keep looking. I have cut down small trees but I wouldn't ever think about knocking down one bigger than a couple inches thick.

Had you been in the boy scouts, you would have learned to take care of our natural resources and leave them better than you found them, as opposed to the lack of care that you are exhibiting now. Killing a tree to allow sun into a temp mj patch is asinine when you can simply relocate said patch....

what you're going to want to do is take an axe and chop all the way around the tree making sure to cut all of the phloem

lol FUCKING TREE HUGGERS..... ive killt like 5 small trees and some bushes this year so far prepping my outdoor spot.... i have no problem sleeping at night... matter fact from all that hard work i slept good has hell.... how thick are theese trees? the ones i was cutting were has thick has my wrist and were a bitch to bring down with an old school hand saw...
