they treated him like a coward and beat his ass in basic training. the sarge told the others "dont count on him to save your ass on the battlefeild" he was nearly court marshalled and sent to military prison for not taking a direct order from the company commander to hold a rifle. Desmond Goss was awarded the congressinal medal of honor.
