I dont know if you know who Mel Frank is, or Ed Rosenthal, but theyve written many books, photographing marijuana, and growing almost forever. At least since the early 70s. Long before HID.

The Sk1 genetics come straight from Mel Frank, who got the genetics straight from the person that took them to Europe, ( Skunkman ) and are not bastardized like the alleged Sk1 genetics advertised today.

I would also highly recommend getting the NL5 Genetics from AKBeanBrains,,, and if you ever want to breed anything, breed the NL5/Sk1 together for a time tested no bullshit cross that will cros the eyes of the most experienced smoker.

I also recommend the AKBeanBrains NL5/HAZE. These are also from the 80s-90s, and is extremely potent.

You could also hunt for a killer NL5/Haze Mother plant, and use a Sk1 Male, or 2, and cross it into the NL5/Haze Female, and have the same genetics as what Mr Nice uses to make Super Silver Haze, though these genetics may surpass with Mr Nice has, as the SSH of today, isnt the same shit as it was in the 90s.
Just like Sensi NL5/Haze, Sk1, Hashplant, G13/Hashplant, NL, which is no longer advertised as NL5 because they lost the original genetics 15 years ago, and some others are just shadows of their former selves from the 80s-90s, and some early 2000s......
Same goes for the Serious Seeds AK47. They lost the original breeding genetics 2x. Once in the late 90s, and then again in 2007. And is junk. I used to be a mod for Simon when he first started Serious forum. 2006-7.

Mr Nice Shit ( Sk1 ) is backcrossed into an Afghani.

If one could still get the original genes of AK47, youd have something.

If you look into many of these modern strains, the building blocks of many are NL5, Haze, Nevils Haze, Sk1, Durban, Skelly Hashplant, PNW Hashplant, NL1, NL2, Afghan #1. Theres others, but theres one heck of a lot of strains that have these origins.

Todd got the genetics straight from Mel Frank. Todd, and Mel have a business together, and Todd just sold all of the last batch that Mel had made about 6 months ago, and they werent going to sell anymore, but Todd decided to release them again to fund a project, and they used to be $20 a seed. 10 for $200 + Shipping. Now theyre $5 each + Shipping. Which IMHO for real Sk1 seeds, is giving them away.

Also dont expect RKS. Sk1 isnt RKS. Theyre may be some acrid phenos to be found, and this is what hes breeding for, though most will tend to be sweet/floral, and hashy pine, cat piss.

1 big reason I want them is because if you breed them with another strain, it generally makes the F1 very uniform.

Real deal Sk1 only has 5% deviations, and is very uniform. Theyre may be different smells, but Sk1 seems to stabilize structure, and potency, and makes offspring/hybrids, and everything it touches better, and very uniform.

For your own old school cross you could get the SK1, and AKBB NL5, and find breed your own version of Shiva Skunk. Stuff will cross your eyes.

A person could also buy some packs of AKBB NL5/Haze, and the McCormick/Mel Frank Sk1, and breed your own Super Silver Haze. Find a killer mother, maybe 2 of the NL5/Haze, and the nicest Sk1 male(s) That NL5/Haze I believe is early Sensi stuff, and willl be super potent stuff. All that Sensi gear, Super Sativa Seed Club, Seed Bank gear, and others was pure fire.
Real deal NL5 aint to be sneezed at either. My buddy has had a pheno since 2001, and Ive seen people freak out on it, get paranoid, and sick.

Thanks again for the info. Excited to have some nice genetics coming. I have sensi’s sk1 as well. May do a side by side and see what differences I see.

Yeah Catpiss and some others is how id describe the smell of the old school skunk 1 for sure id say that there were others but that shit reeked your house out for ages for sure

i never really bought the less than 5% deviations bit tho when it comes to skunk 1 theres so many distinct phenos that became strains in there own right pretty much for it to be that stable but i will agree it certainly was pretty consistent in that it only had a few main structures pop up minus the odd sport/genetic throwback of course

@DrKiz if its from old sensi stock then very similar id bet if its from after the 90s probably tis not quite the same ime way sweeter after about then

Structurally, and flowering times are very similar on most plants, though there are all kinds of differnt flavors in the line. But when I grew Sk1 in the 80s-90s it was all similar structurally, and flowering times. But flavors went from honeysuckle, to cheese.

I got the 2 orders of Super Skunks in the mail today.

The guy at eastcoastoriginalz was great to deal with, and sent the seeds as soon as he got the payment.

While I havent grown the seed, the service was great, and he seem s like an honest person.

The Super Skunk F4 are from Sensi Seeds 90s genetics.
Im not sure if I will grow them right now, or save them for F5, so I can have a limitless supply, but Im really tempted to grow 1 pack anyways.
Im for sure going to start AKBB TK/NL5/Haze, and those grow so fast, and tall/big, it might disrupt the canopy to much to have the Super Skunk, and those going, so I may start a pack of Connoisseur Genetics Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze, along with the AKBB TK/NL5/HZ. I figure they should be similar.
But I would also like to have some Super Skunk mothers for next year, and about right now, or another month is the time to get them going so they will have time to get big, then enough time for the clones to root, and be a good size before going outside in Late April- Early May

Looks like it paid off nicely, arrived in Australia 16 days from purchase and with the covid madness creating postal nightmares I’m very impressed.

Also chucked in a free pack of winegums too so plenty of flavours to work through.

Thanks for the heads up! I actually was in Amsterdam in '94 and picked up a pack of sk#1 and grew it out. It WAS the road kill! Damn amazing and I've been searching for it since. I actually got raided, but since I only had a closet with a 250 watt HPS and 250 Watt MH they took the plants and lights and left without charging me. "This weed you grew any good?" was one of the last things they said when they left with it all.

I recently grabbed a pack from Sensi, but I've heard it's not the same so I haven't bothered growing it yet.

No these Super Skunk F4 came from eastcoastoriginalz, and has been bred to itself 4 times since 1989. Sensi bred it once for F1, and has been bred 3 times since. This was original stock from 1989..... there were only 3 packs, and I bought 2 of them 2 weeks ago. Im sure theyre gone. Someone said they were going to buy 3 packs, and never sent the money. They are not RKS.,, but there will be skunk spray/piss type vs dead, and more on the floral side. But make no mistake, they do reek by all reports.

If you want Super Skunk hybrids, AKBeanBrains is the way to go. Also has all kinds of other 80s-90s Sensi, Nevil, and other genetics. Black Domina, NL5, Big Skunk, NL5/Haze, NL1 hybrids, Triangle Kush NL5/Haze and hybrids therof. Look into the Americanna, and hybrids. Consumption F2 is HUGE producing.

You can contact AKBB on Instagram, and ask for a Catalog. Nothing doing on IG Email him for list. JamesBean, and some others also have his genetics, and one may have something the other doesnt have. Id start with JamesBean for ease, and then message AKBB for the list.

So....this is not sounding good....I am in Europe, I wanted to order some SK1 or super skunk. I grew it once in 2011 from seeds given to me and I have
not grown anything as smelly or as fast-hitting ever since.The only thing I know is that the seeds came from Amsterdam. I froze some and it is still GREAT!. Fantastic strong smell and instant bang.
If the current Skunk is sort of bland , what is a good replacement?

Skunk special (female seeds)or a good cheese or psychosis (ugorg or kgbeans)aint bad but as for super skunk america is proly the best bet i have heard good things about seedstockers from Barcelona there super skunk ive yet to try it myself personally but i have heard a few people say it was good tho if your set on eu seedbanks only maybe try them

Im in USA, and most of the genetics I get from Europe are from Connoisseur Genetics. Hes in UK, and has several Original Cheese hybrids for sale. Is also the best place in Europe for Haze Hybrids. Shipping has always been good to USA. So Id assume in Europe it would be just as good considering im 3500+ miles away.
Connoisseur also works with AKBeaBrain in Alaska, and have some of the same genetics, but different hybrids.

For some good weed......Look into the Nevils OG... I believe its a Thai by previously unreleased Nevils work, ( Nevils Haze ) and is supposed to be his best work.

I had 4 different cuts of cheese going at the same time once and boy did the filter struggle, they were forum cuts from kind members. You just made me wonder who does the best blue cheese as I've never grown it but the smoke/stench is lethal.

Best one was exodus(bluecheese) stilton but in seed form these days who knows id be curious of that myself

You will find that with alot of big seed distributors it's just the way it is

I grew out a pack of ONYCD 3.0 from Top Dawg, they were ugly but potent chemmy funk, medium to high yield.
