Hey i live in the PNW, pretty much sea level & close to the coast. I am gonna grow my first small outdoor crop this year, but am having a really tough time finding info about what strain or strains flourish here in the damp & chilly NW. I know folks are growing GREAT outdoor bud in Oregon, Washington, & British Colombia. Any need info/experiance with outdoor strains in my region will be most helpful. Also need to know what time to plant outside, how long to veg in greenhouse before transplanting outdoors, start & finish times, etc.. Mold issues? Tricks of the trade? Thanks in advance for any & all help. Cheers, S.J.

Check with OregonGreenSeed they are local and bred strains for PNW outdoor grows. Check out their website. I think you'll find what you are looking for.
I'm in Oregon and 5 of the 8 strains I'll be growing this year are from them. PM me if you want any more info

Sounds like I'm east if you. But I plant more for sunlight hours. Generally I'm planting between anywhere between May 10- June 1.
If your putting clones out you'll want to harden them off a bit. It's just a 2-3 day process for me, outdoors during the day a few hours more each day then back indoor at night. I try to pick a fairly mild time to plant the clones too, just check the forecasts. My seeds have already been started, but it's certainly not too late to start seeds.
As for molds? I think a lot of people got their asses kicked by the September rains last year, I tented my plants, it helped but still got some bud rot.

Yeah. It was just too wet and humid for my Raspberry Kush. The Cinnex faired better, the Blue Magoo I ended up cutting probably 10 days early. It was still some excellent bud though.

@ petert: thanks for the info on your planting methods, i am soaking up alot of information lately. I was posting on another unnamed forum & posted similer thread..long story short not many responses from NW growers. I'll check out OregonGreenSeed for some good local strains. Sorry to hear about last years crop (rain/mold) good thing you still got some good smoke. @ OregonGrowPros: again sorry to hear about your crop. 50% loss? Still could be worse. Hopefully this year will be better, huh? Cheers

Why not keep them in a greenhouse? You could finish any strain regardless of weather. Even pull off multiple crops if you wanted (light deprivation). Good luck on your grow :)

Garden Boss: thats good advice..i've been thinking that may be the way to go especially as a back up plan in case we get rained out this year like folks say they did last year..greenhouse would be perfect for bring the girls in outta the wet/cold as long as they were in movable pots. The downside is just security & stealth..i have not yet decided exacty where i'll grow them so if it's a ways from where i live, the G.H. Sticks out like a sore thumb for thieves & LEO. If i just grow they here, in the backyard in a greenhouse that would be perfect. I need to find some good info/threads about DIY greenhouse building, & maybe stealth/hiding methods for a small homemade GH? (If there are any) thanks for posting! S.J.

Oh yeah can you explain exactly what you meant by pulling of multiple crops & "light deprivation"?? Thanks

Light dep is covering your tented plants with a light blocking material. Most plants start to flower after a veg cycle in about 14 hours or less of light, you can trick them into flowering by blocking the light. So you could have say 12 plants. In late July you could start covering 6 plants and depriving them of full day length light and get them to finish weeks before you naturally flowering plants. Plus in a green house you can extend the growing season.y greenhouse is only big enough to start my plants, but this year I'll be building a sizable PVC hoop house just in cSe we have a repeat of least years September.
