Best seed strains for rosin ??

I'm talking about 90's Sensi seeds, back when they ran with some of Nevils work. I would definitely pay top $$$ for some early Sensi stock.
I suspect those days are long gone and likely not recoverable. Unfortuanatley, many of the strains tht made the Euro breeders successful are gone (lost the breeding stock), have been massively waterdown, or in some cases the folks have moved on.

Frankly as it stand today I dont even consider Euro stuff aside from Karma. It's sad cause some of those guy had awesome gear way back when...

I'm squishing too now & some strains are superior for sure. We had great return with homegrown OG Kush autoflower believe it or not and it didn't look very trichome laden at all. We also had killer luck with Pink Kush and Pot of Gold. I've been told that the God plant strains are great for squishing.

One thing some people are doing is over hydrating for a few hours before the squish wiuth higher RH packs--however not longer than 24 hours due to mold growth possiblities. Even just ensuring that your bud is kept at 62% humidity leading up to the squish will allow for better return. It's an exciting thing to process your own solventless concentrate isn't it?
I might come back to OG's, they always did right by me for concentrate.

My buds are 62 percent humidity when I press too.

Pink kush has been a reliable yielder too, don't really love it though. Black Dog was the worst, flower was amazing, but when I pressed a quarter I only got a single dab out of it, so disappointing.

I like that, I recently picked up a few nirvana strains and Aurora indica were my freebies. Stoked to hunt through them.
Good luck
Sensi was tops in the world before 2000ish. All of Amsterdam is behind California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington now. They don't have the best new genetics and they can't grow outside. They're forever gone from being leaders imo. Canada should eclipse everyone in the next couple years from shear volume I'm guessing.
The San Fran Bay area and Oakland are creating some insane new strains.

Not really the same thing. Best tasting is a matter of opinion, I'm asking which strains yield 20ish percent (or more obv), which is not a matter of opinion.

I can only grow 4 plants, so if i grow strains that yield poorly I end up having to buy crappy commercial weed well before my next harvest. I'm not looking for any record setting returns here, just don't want to get a days supply of rising off a half zip...which seemed happen to often lately.
Lemonade by PCG Genetics is absolutely insane. The myrcene terpene content is out of this world. Super strong lemon with gassy diesel. It yields insane too because of the Sour D. The lemon skunk genetics enable her to grow indoors way easier than the original Sour D

1st off 220f???? Damn that's the max temp to ever be pressing at. You'll get higher returns but it wont be the bomb tasting budder stuff. I typically press at 180f for best terps. 190 if I want more quantity but I rarely go higher than 190f.

2nd you are not applying enough pressure at 7 tonnes for a 5x2 puck. That puck is 10 square inches, you'll need 10 tonnes to hit 1000 psi on that surface area, at 7 tonnes your on the lighter side for flower at only 700 psi. Up your pressure and you will get better returns.

Now in terms of good strains.... I've done over 40 different strains in my press and hands down the best yielding and one of the best tasting and stable was Silver Blaze by Docs Dank Seeds. This strain is a Rosin beast, I lost the mom i had of her.
This is how it looked within 5 minutes of being pressed. Could pick it up by hand and drop it in your banger. This was done in a 160 micron bag at 180f for 3 mins. 120 is my fav micron for pressing flower.

Hey thanks for your input. I did try lower temps in the past, but got poor yields, although I did not go much longer in time...i think i went 2 mins for lower temps. Tbh i didn't really notice much difference in taste, it did budder at lower temps, which I'm not really a fan of budder so probably another reason I've stuck to higher temps.

I think you have the formula for calculating psi slightly off. You need to convert the tons to pounds before doing the math. So at 7 tons, that's 14,000lbs ÷ 10 sq inches, which gives me 1400 psi. I have experimented using more tons, but it just lead to more blowouts and bleed through on the parchment.

Thanks for the strain recommendation, I will be looking into that one.

I have strains that produce really low yield wise for rosin like Karma Headbanger then I have strains that produce 5x more rosin like SSSDH X Chemmy jones, then I have mid level producers like GG4. The difference per ounce is 1 gram per ounce compared to 5 grams per ounce. Also OP your pressing at too high temp I feel. I press between 160-180f depending on strain. I don't really worry about yields though just quality.

Whoops, your totally right. Forgot about the conversion from tonnes and pounds my apologies.

You were getting blowouts and torn parchment at higher psi you said, are you using a pre press?

That's weird Headbanger was the first strain I ever made rosin from and it was around 21% I thought it would be smooth sailing from there. That was grown by me...good stuff but not really the flavor I'm looking for.

I've pressed GG4 and had great yields there too, but again, not my cup of tea.

I'm getting much larger variances than 1 g per oz. Im talking double for some, over others. I'm not really trying to squeeze every last bit of yield out (pun not intended), just want to have a mother plant of something that yields reasonably well. I need to be efficient with a 4 plant limit. My setup is designed around 1 mother plant, and 3 plants to flower.

I have forgotten about the conversion in the past when I first started and was using 15 tons.

Not torn parchment, just bleed through. Based on my research and experience, I think 1400 psi is a pretty good number, actually I go a little more it's usually 1500 psi.

Yes, I use a pre press. I use an arbor press for that.

Did you ever press these strains? I have had some bomb flowers that did not yield well.
You must be doing something wrong. Good luck problem solving. The Jungle Boys run wedding cake and turn it into the sickest rosin. Check it out below. Get the PCG Genetics cut, FUCK Seeds, you need the real cake.

I think you misunderstood what I said. I'm seeing up to 4 gram difference per ounce depending on strain. I think SSH and her crosses put out highest yields if I had to pick a strain that yields high. My Wedding cake x Gg4 does better then glue but is still only half as good as my Silver strain. I run 2 headbanger keepers and both produce my lowest yield wise and is better as flowers.

Ok now I understand. And yeah, 4 g difference per ounce is consistent with my results too.

I'm sure I am, but I do get good results with some as well, so I might be doing something right as well.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I'm in Canada, there isn't much of a clone scene here that I'm aware of, so I'm limited to seeds.

I am a fan of SSH, might try that one, are you referring to the Mr Nice version?

Comparing jungle boys dry sift static tech to someone's flower press is what's wrong.

Pressure is debatable, I've seen some people use full 20 tons on a 4x2 bag and get big returns and others going on the light end at 900 psi or 1000 psi and still achieving similiar results. Some are trying super hot quick presses and getting good terp returns. I find it's all about sweet spot for how you like to press and then just experiment with different styles.
I find I get better yields from pressing smaller amounts like 7gs vs 14gs at a time.

Also moisture content is very important and age of flower as well. The older the flower I found the darker it will turn out and also less of a yield off fresh harvested and dried.

It took me a while to get my pressing style down and once I got that sorted my returns and yields started improving too.

Pure pressure has some very good info videos on youtube about perfecting pressing that I highly recommend checking out.

Hope some of this jibberish advice helps you achieve your goals.
