Best reflectors-Need help?

Quick question- Should i line the walls of my new grow room with mirrors. white walls, or that thin foilage? If buy a a MD light with reflectors will that do the job insteado linin the walls? Thanks help appreciated.

The best reflectors are metallic, and very fine/smooth.

darkdestruction430- Ive looked online for mylar but the only color i can find is blue. What colors do the walls need to be for vegation and then flowering?

well look again mylar is a silver reflective plastic just line your walls with it and the best way I have found to attach it is spray adhesive it on. And you should buy a reflector for your light too. Flat white walls are also fine.

you can always go to the dollar store and pick up some stuff identical to mylar , cant remember the name but its in the party section usually comes in like 2x2 sq or you can go to the camping dept of walmart and get a emergency blanket!!!!

it's mylar and it's not too cheap..you can get it online or at a grow/hydro store...dude that suggested an emergency blanket from walmart is on the money...they are like under 3 dollars and you get @ 5x6 pc of it..it's very mylar like..peace

Or just use the aluminum foil in your kitchen. Up to 97% reflective. Can't go wrong.

I actually have some aluminum foil hanging around, although one concern that crossed my mind is would that foil reflect to much that it'd burn the leaves on some angles? Is that possible at all?

Mylar(aluminized) is an even more intense(specular) reflector than regular aluminum foil, though they have equivalent reflectance values(sum of all reflection for all angles, basically). For instance if you shine a flash light on either surface pretty much 97% of the light from the flashlight is being reflected. The difference is how much goes where, and the spread of the beam. A white paint will create a large mostly diffuse glow. You'll be completely unable to see a clearly reflected 'beam edge' as you would reflecting the flashlight off a mirror. Aluminized Mylar is mirror like, and they even make aluminized Mylar specifically for the purpose of being used as a mirror. Foil isn't as mirror-like, and is significantly diffuse(50%)! While hot spots are possible, you'd have to form the foil into a parabolic lens shape, or enclose a very small area entirely with foil. Wrinkles, cracks, etc... greatly diminishes the reflection, and do not cause hot spots.

In solar ovens, for instance, aluminized Mylar can produce a slightly higher temperature than regular Al foil, but unfortunately the PET fiber the aluminum has been metalized(vacuum deposit) to can't take the heat. The aluminized Mylar can smoke and/or burn. Well, before that happens the material becomes deformed(heat 'blistering'), and creates irregular hot spots... which probably helps out the smoking and the burning.

Foylon, mylar, panda plastic, or flat white paint. As long as you DO NOT use aluminum foil you will be good

Wait... Foylon is laminated aluminum foil! Contradict yourself much?

This Mylar of which you speak is better defined as aluminized Mylar.

99% of quality reflector hoods are aluminum.

you dont really need mylar a flat white paint will work..i use mylar..but it can create hotspots if you dont put it up right

it not a mandatory but i would use one (and i did when indoor grow was going, ive moved it outside now, the sun is fucking awesome lol)
