best (quiet-est) way to install an inline fan??

I have an exhaust run that pulls air from the outside, runs through my vented hoods, and then outside again, so it is a closed system for my sealed room. I need to install an inline fan to move the air and I'm now wondering what the best way to do this is. Should I use the bracket and install it to my cieling? Or is it possible to hang the fan from the cieling? What is best from a noise perspective? I need to be quiet. It will either be an 8 inch or 10 inch fan. Thanks.

You could mount it with some bungie-cords, which would limit vibration and noise...Or if you want to screw it in with brackets, put some heavy duty weather stripping or foam between the bracket, mounting surface, and fan.

That's a very slick system. Thank you for the idea and the pictures.

I agree with the statement above. It looks like a grow show I would set up, some think I'm obsessive compulsive because of my cleanliness/organization, but to me this is just an essential part of the process. I hope to get some pictures & tutorials up soon on my new account. Great job btw. I may have to utilize this design for my new ventilation system.

I'm all about being organized. What provider/grower has time to fuck around with sloppy set up? (Not the ones who are otherwise productive members of society, anyway.)

I get it setup then add blankets or anything thick around it, its summer so I have a jacket over a fan I think.... wont need it for awhile.

I used bungie cords and suspended my 4" inline after trying rubber mounts to wood stud and reduced the noise by at least 90%.

I finally got it up, with bungie cords... Thanks for the inspiration, I didn't build a box around it but I may do that sometime in the near future, the bungie cords were enough to make it of an acceptable volume. I appreciate it!
