for what's worth, i have about a 98% germination rate using the moist paper towel in a zip-lock on a computer case method. but you need to plant them as soon as they crack or are showing a bit of tap root - like this...
this is my first time germ seeds i used to get small plant but i have 10 seeds in a paper towel and the towel is in a zip lock bag with air. it been 2 day and nothing happen do i need to give it some more time or should i put them in water
I inflate it like a balloon. But I'm sure it produces the same effect.
Best method i think is put them in a cup for a day then put them in a moist towel and keep them in a dark cool place and moist at all times.
I soak my seeds in room temp water for 24 hours before I put them into the paper towel. I use a non-clear ziplock bag, put the paper towel in it and blow it up like a baloon, keeping it in a 80-85 degree room.
i just put 5 stright into soil and i got 4 out of 5 to grow but its my first time 2 so maybe i'm lucky
I just posed a similar question, and while I've germinated lots of different seeds on paper towels, I've NEVER had luck transplanting them to soil. Any tips for transplanting without killing them would be appreciated.
you want to plant as soon as they crack or when just a little bit of tap root is showing (see pic). You want the tap root to point downwards when planting.
Don't bury it very deep (1/4 to 1/2 inch at most) and cover loosely. a wee bit of water (don't over water) and once you see green, get them under lights (HIDs far away, CFLs nice and close) and you should be all set...
