Best lights, lighting for a 4x4?

I've heard waaay too many controversial topics on people saying CMH, or Gavita are better than HPS, MH lighting setups. They never come to a final conclusion..

Apparently you can get away with 315w of light from a CMH, and still pull the same numbers from a 600w Air-cooled HPS. According to statistics the CMH has 4x PAR but I don't know if that's a myth or true..

I was going to buy an Air-cooled Hooded 600w MH, and then possibly switch that out for a 1000w HPS during flower,

Can somebody offer me advice on what I should buy for the area I have?

1000w hps. 630w cmh. 500w of COB. Any will pull nice weight from 4x4. Heat, initial budget and preference from there

How much money you got? 3 would be better. Maybe four. Any more than that and they won't fit over the area.

You could get 8. Put four on the sides. Alot of heat though. You gotta think about heat.
I'd rather have 2 600 than 1 1000 because you can get em closer

I have 2 but I have an ac 14000 btu. If I had the cash and available amps I'd add one more. There is never enough light.

Any grower would tell you they would take more light if it didn't cause heat and cost money.

Are you being sarcastic? Dude; it would have to be like a wind tunnel to get the amount of heat 3-4 600 watts produce out of that small of a space.

I've been told a 600w would be the most beneficial. 1000 is just excess heat + extra hassle. With roughly the same yield.

I'm serious as fuck. I grow a 4x4 net. I use 2x600. Heat is an issue.

So the question isn't about light it's about ventilation

So all in all a 600w is enough, + supplement lighting.

No dude. It's never enough. Lol. It's not the sun.

But if you grow right and have a good strain maybe you get a gram per watt....

They're some nice looking plants tho, props. How many weeks flower is that?

My first run before, I ended up fimming twice and the plants ended up squat but with shit loads of bud sites lol. Did you fim/top yours? But It was a Scrog. Just didn't know what to expect

Only pulled 8oz, with 3 plants. 1 was a runt, so, no too bad. And under a 400w,


This time I'm gunna grow out 9 plants (probably) under a 600w, find the best mother after then SoG. Currently in the process of getting my seedlings to mature a little before throwing them under some MH

I'm so fucking smart I thought I would grow 5 plants in an aero tub straight out onto a table. I had all these concepts and research and books read. But then reality happened I tried to scrog them.

That really just turned into a net trellis.

It's in my signature.
Next grow will be topped. Lst or scrogged or both. And I'm confident it will be a good grow.

So you got about .5 gpw.
That is disappointing to me. What strain.
I mean I'm disappointed to here that because it looks like you did a good job and have more bud sites than myself.
I used 600 to veg and added another 600 to flower. Sure as fuck hope I can get a pound.
I did blue kripple. Highest yielder on gorrilaseeds.com

Gram per watt method doesn't mean shit bro, I've seen people pull like 2.5g/w and they just used clones from mothers. That grow I did those 3 from seed, it took 5 months and was to be expected. and the grow space was only 2.7x2.7


Rooted clones is the way to go for yield, which Is why I'm gunna do 36 clones next time -once rooted - veg for 3 days upto a week, then throw them into flower and hope for atleast 1/2 oz to an oz from each.

This second grow is mainly to find the best mother using some quality seeds

ps: You'll most likely hit that pound mark, looks like you did enough research tbh

I still don't think I have as many bud sites though. But maybe I'll make up for that in length and wattage

Curing is pretty straight forward, just look up the guide on growweedeasy. also leave them in complete darkness for 48 hours before the chop. helps bring up the potency/smell slightly.

Yeah I've read the shit out of everything. I guess I just like to hear from real people. It seems we are close as far as experience goes and you just walked down the path I'm on.

So how long did you have it in jars before you smoked? I'm sorry I'm reading your journal now but did you buy into the whole flush thing? How did the shit taste?
