Hi,

I was wondering what your opinion on the best material for filters are. I usually use cardboard but my friends often use paper or none at all, what do you guys think?

i get a pack of these for less than 70 cents

50 of them in there

they work perfectly... no hassle with cutting or anything, you just tear it out and all edges are smooth/cut straight.

i see them at head shops everywhere

I open a pack of zig zags (pretty much the only rolling paper here, they even sell em in vending machines) under the papers is a carboard piece thats really thin and perfect for making roaches with. After that I use the front cover of the zig zag pack. When I worked at walmart some boxes in foods had really thin but stiff paper/cardboard in the box that I'd pocket too

All my college notebooks have small square pieces missing in some pages xD
OCB's usually carry strips of cardboard under all the papers also.

I never use filters, I enjoy when the resin builds at the tip, bitter as hell, sweet resiny goodness. ^__^

i use index card paper. i think theyre normally 3x5. i tear a strip down the 3 inch side, about 1/4 inch wide. then i bend the paper over and over until its all rolled up. i pinch and roll it a little to make it round, then put it in my j roller. make sure you put it in the right way, so when you roll it, it doesnt unwind. i dont think it will work if your rolling your own j's, unless you put a dab of glue on the filter or something. they tend to unravel easily.

I don't get it.......
How does cardboard at the end of your J filter anything?
Don't you have to suck really hard to get the smoke to pass through it?
Doesn't it taste nasty when it's heated?
If you need a filter, why not simply buy the real filter plugs like sold by TOP and so many others?

Not being rude, just curious...........

Ahhh, OK.
Umm, no, I still don't get it. A crutch? Don't know what you mean by that.
I've always known a roach to be the last bit of the J that you can't hit because it'll burn your fingers. (unless you have a roach clip, of course)

A roach is the European term for what Americans would call a crutch. A piece of card acting as a mouth piece to add stability to the joint and to stop the mouthpiece turning to mmuch if with slobery friends etc. Also makes rolling the joint much easier in my opinion as there is something firm to hold onto. With a cruth/roach there is no burning of fingers waste of weed or requirement for a roach clip.

imagine a stip of paper rolled up. if you look at it from the end, there are spaces for air to go through, but theyre smaller so weed doesnt get in your mouth. the way i do it, the paper wants to spring out a little, but if i make the j right, the paper around it will sort of hold it in and its all nice and tight. it feels like a cigarette with a real short filter

never never use a filter....it degrades the weed.........and why try and filter the tar out when your gonna smoke as much as you intended to, to begin with....what im trying to say is....every one smoke to get a certain high...well to get that "high", you gotta smoke x amout of weed to get to that point....well....when useing a filter...yes you get some of the res out but your also taking THC out to...so you end up smoking more, to get to the high you want...thus equaling the same amout res your putting in your lungs, your just smoking more of it to get the same res %...........filters are pointless....talking about the people who use cig filters.....useing a filter designed to just keep weed out your mouth then thos are fine.....
