Best Hoods/Reflectors?

I am looking for a hood/reflector for a 1000w HPS light. The websites that I have been checking offer many dif sizes, finishes, and shapes and I just don't know how to choose the best one. What shapes are best for eliminating hot spots? What size is too big? I know that the larger one would allow for more area for the plants to live in which = a larger canopy and strong plants. But the smaller one means more concentration and less time for that plants to fill the canopy and absorb every lumen they can..

I want to grow in a 4x4 space for now but I also plan on expanding in the future. So I want something that would work the best in smaller spaces as well as larger spaces.

sounds like you want a hood with an adjustable bulb mount. this allows the bulb to be moved up and down within the hood which changes the light's "footprint". you should use whatever size makes most sense for your space, and the ability to move the bulb up and down within the hood can help you dial in the correct concentration and sq. footage coverage. then you can change it at will if you need to.

I like everything but the price, but if I could get a increase in yield from a larger hood then it would be worth it. If not then I'd rather save $80-$100

i've only used the 1 reflector for the 1 hps i have, so the usefulness of my input is limited, but it's a sunleaves arctic sun. it's probably a bit small for what you need (it was one of the smallest ones i could find) but i'm a big fan of the brand. i use their meters and timers and t5 fixtures and i trust the brand a lot. they're not exactly the cheapest pricewise though. i mainly get their stuff because it's a popular brand at my local shop. someone who has used more brands might have some more insight.

I once read that diamond reflectors are very efficient. But the Adjust-A-Wing reflectors are one of if not the best kind.

this one is almost as large as the one in your link and it's about 50 bucks cheaper. it has an adjustable socket and claims 95% reflection. the flanges are 6'' i don't know if you want them bigger. this is off the website of a store i sometimes visit, so it may be available cheaper somewhere. yes it's a sunleaves.

Hydrofarm Daystar super sweet nice broad even foot print. 25 year warrenty on reflective material and it's smooth not dimmpled. It's a very small reflector but don't let it's size discourage you, they make a bigger one the radiant but it actually has a smaller foot print. Plus there cheaper than that big kahuna thing. Get a Hortilux super hps bulb, best bulb there is for flowering.
