Hey,

I was short couple of months on catching the led strip wave but I'm planning on building a fixture for my 2x2x5 tent. I want it to cover the whole top of my tent. I figured out my best bet is to ask you guys since im not familiar with strips. I want to keep it budget friendly while using 150watts at most. I want it to cover top of my tent. Which strips are the most efficent? Which ones are cheaper options? How would you build it if you were in my poisiton? If you can share your set-up ideas I will be very thankful.

1 x HLG 120H C1050 A - This can be driven to just over 150w (Around £35/$45)
6 x BXEB 2ft strips at 3500K (£5/$6 each)

Some aluminium for frame
Some 18aug wire
Some Wago's
1 x LLT L20 connector
Thermal tape

Thats the design i built via the plans at Ledgardener.
Great light for a small space.

Great stuff. What strips are those? How big is the space?
I just used the 2' F strips F564B in 3000k and a HLG180-48B driver. Add a 5th strip and step up to a HLG240-48B. A simple 100k pot mounted in the lip of the pan and an extension cord sacrificed to connect power. I built this for a friend to use in a closet grow, she does a couple of plants in a 2x3 and does really well. The pic I uploaded was me testing the light with a BF SweetTooth Auto in a closet. Amazed me...
Just to put it into context, 4 of the F564B have the same diode count as 2 QB's

That look like a best cheaper option to Samsung F series builds. I'm still thinking do I wanna pay for Samsungs or build exactly what you said. I still got time till my first grow ends.

That plant got a tree trunk as a stem. I love the idea of covering whole top of your grow area with diodes. I think how you use your lumens is as important as how many you got. And filling whole top of your tent with small diodes is best way to do it.

So if I wanted to go bananas in 2x2x5 tent my best option is: get 5x two row Samsung F-series Gen.3's (SI-B8U521560WW), wire them in series and run them with HLG-240H-C1050B. Which gives me the option to run them at 0.525amps dimmed all the way down when I need to. Am I right with that one or is it just too much for 2x2 tent?

Way more light than you'll use in a 2x2, and the fixture size means it won't scale well in a larger space. You're better off with a 150w driver, and if you ever upsize your grow space, you can build another fixture to run alongside this one.

What if I get single row ones and spread them out. How many of them would I need.
