well my opinion is that sativas come from the equator and only get 10-14 hrs light to dark and 14-10 at max,and most sativas yield massively,so the only reason for seed companies to be jumping on this bandwagon and hyping it up is to make money, you can get sativa heavy varieties and start them at 12/12,they will grow into beasts still, rather than dwarfs,I get what you are saying, but I don't see the point,if you want a quick variety, find a fast phenotype of a strain you like and keep it going as a clone, and I do know all about breeding too, currently crossing some tga 3d with a stinky chemmy jones male, will b x it a few times then going to put some cheese genes in there.Personally just going to breed my own strain that meets my own needs,ie a 8-9 week flowering potent connoisseur sativa heavy hybrid, that I can 12/12 from seed and pull a oz-2oz a plant off, only 4 weeks till the first batch of f1s is ready.

just as long as you know what i mean, cannabis doesnt need sleep and will grow 24/7 in veg no problem, so 50% more energy for flower as well just sounds really appealing to me, but potency has a long way to go until the perfect race is bred, but it is in the future for sure.
and nice, tga is great. i think im going to breed 2 crosses in the next 2-3 years, headband x chronic backcrossed with headband for a stable pheno that has a high ratio of offspring that have the headband stench as well as taste and potency
and possibly (herijuana x headband) x selene(sannies, also has chronic genetics for a yield boost).

these will eventually be crossed with an auto strain i am eventually perfecting, planned it all out on but breeding the auto may take up to 2 years since im trying to breed only the best of the best, i will pop 20 of the offspring after and will pick out the best male and female out of each batch for about 3 to 4 generations until im pleased with the resulting phenos.

heres my plan, i hope to maybe one day sell these seeds legally, so i have a bunch of future photoperiod crosses i had in mind.

I have too say your right that cannabis will grow under 24/7 in veg...you will have a lot of growth over ground...but not in the root system....roots strech out when there in the lights off ....you will not have a bigger yeild by vegging under 24/7.....plants don't get 24/7 outdoors so why would you give it indoors....dosent make any sense...pure waste of electricity....the key to a big yeild is in the root system you have....bigger the roots ..bigger the fruits.....theres a lot goes on in the dark cycle as well.......i don't know why people would even think about 24/7 in veg ...too c for your self do a side by side and you will c a massive diffrence.

ive heard that a lot but never really seem to hear anything to back it up, to me it always seemed to me the plant knew when to focus on root growth since its all that really keeps the branches up, having experience vegging indoors and out i cant say ive ever had that problem, maybe its just not noticeable.

and no indoor light can really compete with the sun or all the other benefits of growing outside(more range of microbes, beneficial mites, fresh aerated rain water, etc) so plants outdoors are going to have some extra advantage but nonetheless they still fall behind in overall growth. even with the same strain and nutes(both given root hormone or compost tea), root balls didnt seem to be any more filled out or healthier looking than the ones under 24/0. and if anything you can give them a good breeze, proper conditions(also nutes/microbes), dont overwater and let them have a lot of room for growth, theyll have great roots.

theres places on earth that get more than the common hours of sunlight, some get no dark period for weeks.

i agree we shouldnt be giving our plants synthetic food or any substance that doesnt occur in nature, however this is more like modifying a variable that wont ruin the end product and does naturally occur. but i dont think its hard to grasp really, we know how they respond and our intent is to manipulate its reactions to its environment for optimal conditions.

i would see how its a waste of electricity if they stopped photosynthesizing after 18/6, but it doesnt, theres plenty more growth for those extra 6 hours, over weeks that really adds up. and ive seen plenty of side by sides that coincide with what i said. and though root growth is important foliage is just as much of a necessity.
