Use kellogs soil if your going basic.

But i would suggest using a higher quality soil like Roots Organic or Fox Farm.

your plants will do good in the mg potting soil mix. straight water for the first few weeks, don't fertilize them until they need it. i cut it about 70/30 with perlite and i don't have any problems.

When they were my only option I used to get:
1 -MG organic soil
2 -Espoma Plant tone 5-3-3 or Bio tone 4-3-3
3 -plain 40 lb. bag of potting soil
4 -Bone meal
5 -plain perlite; not the MG brand
6 -Espoma Garden Lime or Gypsum
I mixed the MG Organic soil with the plain ole potting, then add 45% perlite to mix.
Mix in one of the Tones and a cup of Bone meal and 1/2 - 3/4 cup lime or gypsum.
That's it!

Here's some results from that mix under some 100 watt flos I got from the Depot as well:

perlite is the white bits you see in soil. it comes in different sizes i like the big popcorn size myself. it is great for drainage. FF is ok but hot plus if you have ever been to somoa (not the country) where they store/stir it you would not be too impressed. but grab a baga nd check it out. epsom salt is for magnesium. try to get the kind designed for plants near the plant section at home depot or wherever its cheap and has less sodium

Yea there facilities fukt up, I don't buy none of their soils because I got Root aphids in a couple bags of FF OF & HF last year, bar none the worst pest I've ever dealt with they almost took out my grows and my mothers, Fox Farm lucky I love their dry nutes so much or I would never buy anything from them again atfer that BS.
