Benzos and Alcohol

While I'm sure no one here has a med degree, I was wondering just how serious the interaction between these two downers are. Lets say SWIM sometimes has a couple beers or some shots and takes anywhere from 0.5-2.0 mg of klonopin every once in a while and weighs around 135 lbs. Anyone know the danger threshold for depressants like these? I doubt it's near this level, but I would be interested to know regardless.

2mg for a 135 man is a relatively moderate-high dose

has 'swim' ever blacked out from that alone

My understanding of benzos is people black out, and then in a stupor state take more then run into problems

SWIM has blacked out on 4mg with a considerable amount of alcohol while watching Donnie Darko about 6 months ago, which was totally worth it. I'd say 2 mg is probably a moderate dose, SWIM has never gone beyond 4.

The anwser is stop drinking... swim alcohol intake will make him light headed because of his weight.he's a risk taker...

It depends on the individual. If you aren't tolerant a few drinks and 0.5mg will probably knock you out. If you do it regularly it won't as easily but you're still taking a very large risk. Mixing CNS depressants is one of the most dangerous ways to get a buzz.

Any doctor would tell you never to mix these things deliberately as the effects can be very unpredictable. Just because you might have high tolerance to both doesn't you would if mixed and this mixture can easily kill you. So, do at your own risk.

I couldn't really comment on the question..I took 1 kololnopin a few weeks ago and it did absolutley shit for me(I was experimenting with it and my anxiety)..I felt like I had taken a nap for an hour and then nothing..I'm assuming id have to take more to get any effect near a black out,which I don't want...I can't see how even a large amount of alcohol and small doses of benzos would make me black out but I'm a big guy...all I know is for me,even without alcohol,xanax blacks me out,or at least it did 15 years ago when I took them last(I learn from mistakes )

You also drink a fair amount and there is some cross tolerance. I'm surprised clonazepam wasn't a better anxiolytic for you. Probably for the best :/

Benzos and alcohol, are not only both CNS supressors, but work on the same receptors...So you really are risking it. Could end up unconscious or in a coma by stopping your breathing. Depriving your brain of oxygen. Don't become a vegetable swim. Dr. PT

I still don't get why people take 'blackout' drugs..they rave about how awesome they feel and how 'good' the pills are..then blackout and can't remember how good they felt,or how awesome the night was...instead they wake up confused with a 3 course dinner inside their dresser and a great jackson pollok smeared on the wall in chunky peanut butter..if I wanna black out ill take a tank of nitrous,please!

I used to be prescribed Klonopin for anxiety. Struggling to keep your eyes open after a beer or two is no fun IMO.

I know if ya mix the two you could go to sleep and quit breathing and not know it. I guess it would depend on how much you had of the two. I took 20 1mg at one time once black out drunk. I woke up to texts asking if I was alive... Idk how I didn't overdose and have no recollection of taking all them at once (I don't normally take them, especially that many) haven't taken one since..

I am bipolar so I have done every member of the pam family over and over again. 2mg's clon's and a couple of beer and you won't remember what happened for the next 12 hrs or so.
I don't like to drink when the pams are around because I end up doing strange things.
Have fun and be careful.
P.S I have taken ove 50mg's of clonazepam in a single dose and lived but I don't remember the entire week that I was fucked up on it. Woke up in jail and they told me I was really messed up and was like that for a week lol.

That's exactly what happened to me lol except I didn't go to jail, I felt drunk for a couple days after..

Thanks everybody, not something SWIM does on a regular basis, but SWIM woke up just fine this morning, if a bit hungover.

Alone it is very hard to die from benzodiazepines. Add another CNS depressant and that changes.

nothing like benzos & booze to turn good people into thieving zombie assholes, there's a lot better drugs you can do in my opinion

i took 2mg xanax bar and drank a few shots of vodka

it was ok but it was to blackout
