bending

I have a 1.5 ft tall young plant that has just showed itself as a girl. I figure it could go up to another 8 weekks thru the fall. since it is starting to take off I have been thinking about guiding it somehow to start growing horizontally as i do not want another 8 foot vertical plant. I don't think it will get there anyways since maybe the cooler longer nights will slow down the rapid growth seen thru the hot summer months.

this plant is important since my other main plants are somewhat in jeapordy since they grew too big and now i am finding brittle branches that tend to snap off with very little help from wind and rain. this little girl may be the consolation prize, so I want to start to take steps to make sure she does not go thru the same thing.

If its just starting to show, you can probably get away with topping it good one more time. Bending works too but can be a bit of a bitch to tie down the bend. For me, it increases the diameter of the plant and that fucks up my spacing. I decided to let my current grow run straight up like that and I regret it now. Never again. After this, I'll go back to LST training for stronger growth with a shorter height.

Starting now is a good time. You want to bend it gradually over a period of days. Tie fishing line or whatever you have near the top with a weight tied to the other end. Then move the weight a little at a time - This will keep the plant from stressing which in turn slows it's growth down.

I disagree.

Supercrop that bitch, if it's just starting the increase in the size of the vascular walls will bring more energy to the buds past it. Not to mention it will trick the plant into creating new tops out of the smaller bud sites.

It also allows you to fold the plant in onto itself or vice versa bringing more light to the lower canopy or if you have a sparse canopy using that light on the other tops.

i agree on supercropping however if youve never done it before then the start of flowering is a shitty time to start experimenting with it. its not hard to snap off a top or end up with nasty holes ripped in your stalk... ask me how i know.
