First off I live in the great state of Minnesota, well not so great if your trying to grow cannabis. Like all other northern climate growers know you gotta start your grow in late winter, indoors. So i have constructed my small little closet grow box. It consists of an

18"L18"Wx12"H box
One emergency shiny blanket
an extension cord
two outlet to socket connectors
two socket Y's
a computer fan+speaker power plug
a bunch of tape glue and

i will get pics up as soon as i can

now the only part im missing is the most important, seeds! i need seeds! im looking for another grower in Minnesota who is willing to help a new grower out and sell me about 20 seeds. im not picky, i dont need contest winning strains but i dont want schwagy bag seed. id like something thats well suited to MN's outdoor climate

any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Bro, just buy some cheap ones from attitude or nirvana! I'm going with 10 aurora indica(nirvana) and 10 Mango(KC brains).

The auroras because i heard they become monsters outdoors, and the Mango because they are the most stable kc brains strain and can grow like 3m outdoors.

I'd do that any day before i met some stranger from online to do an illegal transaction.

Yeah id love to do that, I know that they are safe and all but I'm still nervous about using my debit card. Ive never bought anything online before. And what do they usually ship them in?

Before you even consider spending money on seeds, you should look into redesigning that box. 12" isn't nearly high enough.

yeah i've got plans for when they grow taller, i'm gonna add on to the top.

Also they will only be inside for about 3-4 months until the weather warms up and they can be planted outside

Also on the Nirvanna site, i read that they cannot use debit cards. has anyone ever used a debit card to buy seeds? that is all i got, i dont have a credit card

Only 3 or 4 months? Dude they will be monster by then. So what's you plan to find a few mothers and put out clones?

I'm not sure about Nirvana but I'm pretty sure you can use a debit card with Attitude. They also carry Nirvana seeds if for reason you have you heart set on them. I actually use a pre-paid visa.

thats what i was planning on doing was buying a prepaid visa, is nirvana not reliable? i like their site better because i find the attitude site to be confusing and hard to find what im looking for. Nirvana's site is so much simpler

I'm using my debt card. Just do it you'll be fine. Even if it gets seized in the mail nothing could happen to you.

Alot of the times they will ship them back out if you order them directly from nirvana, whereas if you order from attitude they will ask you to make another purchase and they will also include your original purchase when they ship it out!

You can keep them low by doing LST,Topping and Fimming if you want to keep them small and bushy so they dont have a huge rediculous stretch during flowering!

Strains for MN, anything auto, pretty much any pure indica. Such as aurara indica, northern lights, hash plant, early girl, early skunk, and so many more! Just look for flowering times of about 45-60 days or (6-9 weeks) and you should be fine. You can also go for any hybrids that are more indica dominent.

Edit: I forgot to mention you should get f2 seeds because you will have more stable and reliable genes and phenotypes will be more consistant.
But if you want a variety to choose a mother to clone from then maybe you want to go with regular f1 seeds to find some different phenotypes.

yup ive been reading up on topping and lst'ing, I've been planning on doing that.

thanks for the tip on the F1 F2 plants that's very interesting

also im planning on using 4 60 watt equivalent CFL bulbs for my box, they each produce 800 lumens, the box is 2.25 square feet is that enough light? the bulbs are 6500k cool blue

another question, i plan on growing them indoors under 16 hours of light. When i put them outside it will only be about 14 hours of daylight. will this cause them to begin flowering?

You should get the 100w equivalent bulbs instead.

As for the hours of lighting, you can slowly reduce them to closer to 14 to cause less stress and also have less chance of a forced flowering but either way you will be fine! Have seen many go into flowering when put out and they only go to flowering for a short time usually before they will revert once again into veg and branch like mofos. No worries!
There has been a few varietys that wont revert very easily such as some kush varieties, so therefore you may want to reduce hours of light to whatever it is outside when you plant to put them out slowly. Best to have them in the ground in late may here because they will veg better in your cab than outside in the case of a late frost or even cold nights which can stunt them.

You will want to put them out for a few hours each day as you prepare to plant them in the ground to allow them to adjust to their new climate and then it will be much safer to leave them out over night or just get them in the ground.

YOU have many decisions in the way you intend to grow them.

This thread is sweet! I love having a place where i can communicate with local growers. So What sort of soil mix does you or your bro use outdoors duluthdankmaster? I'm thinking of going to WLSSD and grabbing a yard of compost for only 22$!

Maybe ill put an inch or two of perlite in the bottom of each hole, idk,

I prefer to use pro-mix or sunshine mix. It comes in big 3.8 cu ft compressed bales. Also comes in either 1 or 1.5 cu ft loose bags (can't remember which). It's decently priced, and works great. No nutrients so you either have to add liquid when you water or add some time released, or both. You could go and use some sort of "super soil" amending with worm castings, bat guano, seabird guano, or whatever type of shit or prefer, but for me it's too expensive considering the large volumes needed and the chances of losing and least a few plants. For big plants you are going to want to big holes about knee deep and about 2-3 ft around. Doesn't seem like that much but trust me it's about 10-15 gallons, maybe more. Now, if you are medical and legal and can grow a few plants in the safetly of your backyard, then be my guest, buy whatever expensive soil and amendments you want.

Also, I'm not going to bash Nirvana since I grew a nice Northern Lights from them last year, but you really won't find many vet growers growing their gear. I guess for the price you pay, they are OK, but huge variation from what I've heard. Like I said, I only had one of their plants survive and it was so-so. Finished later than I thought and had some issues with mold. The way I see it, considering the investment of time, energy, and money that goes into even a small guerrilla grow, it pays in the long run to buy better seeds. Especially if you have the room to do it the "right" way and find monthers now and only put out female clones. I don't have that sort of luxury so I'm sticking to feminized again this year. I had no issues with fem seeds last season.

Attitude is very legit. I've ordered from them at least 6 times and always got what I ordered, plus whatever freebies they promised.

That's good to hear some first hand reps for attitude! i had talked to a guy about buying some clones but he wanted $50 a piece! That's almost as much as i wanted to spend on all my seeds!

Also if i were to buy clones what is the proper procedure if i were to grow them in soil? root them in either rockwool or just water? (a bubble cloner is not an option) then plant them into small pots/cups once they have rooted?

I don't live in a medical state and growing doesn't seem all that popular (at least in my circle) so I have no idea how clones are bought and sold. If I did, for $50 it better already be rooted when I bought it. I'm not sure if you mean just some guy you know or a dispensary that actually sells clones. That's not the important part right now though. I believe genetics are one of the most important things to consider when growing outdoors, especially somewhere like MN where the season might be a little more limited. Next to finding the proper grow spots, selecting your genetics should be your top priority. When is your last frost in the spring and first frost in the fall? You'll probably want some that's indica or mostly indica. I like to check the description either on the Attitude website or Seed Finder as to when the breeder claims it finishes. Although I don't take this a guarantee. Point being is that if you pick something that isn't going to finish til november it probably won't finish in time for you. Don't know much about MN but I'm guessing the weather can start getting ugly there mid to late October? You need something that finishes before then. From your posts so far you sound exactly how I did this time last year. I picked seeds sort of haphazardly early on, then as I read more throughout the spring and summer, I realized I might not have made the best choices. Things worked out ok for me actually, but they could have been much better if I put more thought into my seed selection.

But hey at least i did it at the right time, i was gonna order yesterday but chickened out. Edit: I suppose you'd be interested in what i got huh? i ordered 10 ATA Tundra seeds, 10 AK48, and 10 Short Rider! All have short flowering times which suits MN and Short Rider is an autoflower strain. So hopefully with this lineup ill be able to beat the frost!!
