Beating the first frost...

I'll update with pics tomorrow. So I have two girls outside, each about 3ft tall. I started flowering them on Day 18, and they showed sex at Day 36. It is now Day 56, and the first estimated frost for my area is around the beginning of November.

Day 75 would probably be the normal harvest, and that would be Nov 5th, but with the cold stunting growth I doubt they will make it. :wall:

Questions for you...
From what I've read, I think that MJ can survive one to three frosts? True?

If it can, would the amber harvest be worth the risk over a clear trich harvest?

By the way, blackberry outdoor strain, mostly indica with some sativa

pot plants can survive frost, but you risk bud rot.. i would be very worried at anything below 32F..

Mine have had several frosts now, and at this point I am more concerned with the rain. 2 or more days of rain seem to induce mold...

Mine seen 2 frosts allready I decided to bring it in though. Its fine, of course I think that shit varies between strain and strain.
I would honestly try to bring it in its last few weeks in order to ensure you will get a good harvest and not loose your hard work to some bud mold or a bad frost.

Shit...its been raining for like 3 weeks here...Maybe ill build a small makeshift greenhouse for them...block rain and hold in heat...

As the others have said, its good to keep an eye out for bud rot and mold.
You can tell after a good frost if your girls can handle another. If a lot of leaves curl up and die that isn't a good sign; they can't handle the cold. If they look ok after and are still growing, GREAT! I had to bring in a Durban Poision early, not from the cold but the rain. Bud rot sucks! Im finishing it under lights now.

Good Luck!

Oh by the way kaiserAxel, you'll have to tell me how the greenhouse works out. I was thinking about trying the same thing with plastic sheet and 2x4's. I figured that would have bought me at least two extra flowering weeks, plus they would flower faster again! The only reason I didn't do it was because my plant would have been seen. Might try it next year though, in a different area.

Yeah thats what i was going to do but with 1x2's and structure it nicely, maybe with some rocks to hold them down in case of storming. " Blackberry’s mother, Black Domino, was a clone sent to the Netherlands from the area around Seattle." Since its an outdoor strain I'm assuming this strain was grown outdoors in Seattle, so who knows? ;)

You are growing in a greenhouse. And why are you trolling my thread? That is not helpful or interesting....My plants are outdoors au natural, no greenhouse, just a bin, soil, and plant...which reminds me here are those pics...

oh i forgot, beside adding one more to ur reply count. i have some guerilla as well. i sprayed them with a mister. a thin sheet of ice helps to protect the plant structure. not too much, or you will snap ur branches from the weight. also, if you suspend some thin plastic sheeting over ur plants it will collect the frost. sparing your ladies.

my plants survived a frost over by me it was 29-30 or maybe a lil lower and only one plant that wasnt even big anyways died from it but my bigger ones lived so its possible and weather over here is starting to get a little better so hopefully mine will fully bud , gl with urs:joint:
