BC Roadkill & Chuck D - Hydroponics

Hello fellow tokers. I'm a couple weeks into growing out some new seeds and I'm creating a journal open to disscusion for all!

My seeds are from a Canadian supplier called Cannacopia. You can find the strains at hempdepot. I ended up with strains called "BC Roadkill" and "Chuck D".

I grew half my seeds out a few months back, they were very healthy and now it is time for round 2. I plan on trying out the new 90W LED lights that are being talked about so much. Should be budding in a month or so.

I have posted pictures of my veg room. It's as simple as it gets. Just a homemade drip system setup so that my work is minimal. I plan on trying ebenfolow hydro when it comes time to flower.

Thanks for reading, I'll try and post every week or two. Please feel free to post any comments or questions. I'm here to learn and share any knowledge I may have.

Here's a link to the journal discussion page: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journ...ecialblend-cost-effective-indoor-growing.html

Cheers from Canada!

Well it's been over a month since my last update and I'm a week into budding my plants. It may be hard to see but I have two very tall plants and 3 medium sized ones.

The two tall ones are both the Chuck D strain and I believe one of them is a female. I will need another week or so before I can tell for sure. I'm hoping to get two females and then I will throw everything inside an enclosed budding room ($100 Canadian for decent budding room off eBay).

I am using a 90W LED light with RBO spectrum plus two 40W CFL bulbs to help fill in the wavelengths.

Comparing to previous grows I am very happy with the current progress. I hope to post more pictures once some buds arrive. Ask any questions you may have in my related discussion journal.

Cheers

Hey I've been growing BC Roadkill from Cannacopia for like a year now. Awesome strain. Potency, flavor, yield, bag appeal, it has it all. What did you think about your first run of plants? I've also been growing their Bubba's Kush and it's great too so I'm wondering what that Chuck D is like.

Great to hear you're happy with Cannacopia and the Roadkill strain. How does it compare smoke-wise to the Kush? What kind of yields are you seeing from the two? I too was happy with the Roadkill, my first run had really good yields. I think about 1.5oz dried bud where my Chuck D only did less then 1oz per plant. But both had great highs and very nice flavor. I was using a HPS system at the time so it will be interesting to compare yields of the HPS vs LED. On my first run I didn't get any super tall plants like the Chuck D's I have now. I'm thinking they are perhaps more sativa dominate then the rest of the batch are will throw so really potent bud. Ha, wishful thinking for now.

Yea Roadkill yield is very good. The Bubba Kush is a very low yielder though. Personally I have a theory that lower yielders produce higher quality bud in the end so I don't really look for big yields. I've been trying out a lot of different gear from different breeders, over 20 different strains so far, and in general the lower the yield the better the smoke. I say "in general" because there are some exceptions like Roadkill that is great quality and above average yield as well. I would still give the nod in overall potency to the Bubba's Kush though. Either way, these two Cannacopia strains are better than most of the ones I paid much more for.

Subscribed. I can't wait to see some budshots of the Roadkill. Its going to be my next grow. I randomly selected it from the list of strains I want to grow, and Im pretty glad I got RKS. It was near the top of my list. Can you tell me how stinky it really is? My friends say the Nirvana WW Ive got going now really stinks up the upstairs, but I wanna blow em away eheh.

Want budshots? Check out this thread I made a while ago. ----> https://www.rollitup.org/seed-strain-reviews/202229-why-dont-i-see-more.html Lots of pics of finished Roadkill and Bubba Kush buds/plants. It's funny that you mention Nirvana because you will see in the thread that I mention specifically how much better I think these strains are than anything I got from Nirvana. For the record I grew Jock Horror, Bubblelicious, and Super Skunk from Nirvana. Maybe their WW is better but I'm pretty sure you will be blown away by the quality of the Roadkill smoke. I know I was. And yes, it STINKS.

Those were some nice pictures. Definitely looks like the Deep Chunk coming thru from all that frosting. I can't wait to grow it.

MJ at PEAKSEEDSBC.COM totally RIPPED ME OFF and he is so being a dick about it. I mailed my order in the beginning of Oct 2009 and it is now 1/23/10. I emailed him 3 weeks later and he said he mailed my order which I never received. He said he would resend another order. Never received it. Emailed it again and he said 'it must have gotten lost in the mail.' I emailed him 3 weeks ago and again he told me it must have a got lost in the mail. This time I told him that it was impossible for 3 orders to get lost in the mail and I wasn't buying his story. Now he will not respond to me at all. I did write to Greenman since now pekseedsbc.com has a Greenman symbol on his home page. It doesn't appear that Greenman is that honest either since he wouldn't do anything about him ripping me off. Also I searched the web and found many, many other complaints from people saying they never got their orders either. He may have been honest long ago but DO NOT BUY FROM HIM unless you want to get ripped off.

Um..where did this come from? That site doesn't even sell Cannacopia seeds.

Down to 2 plants. Budding now for about 3 weeks. Chuck D on the left, BC Roadkill on the right. My Chuck D female is about twice as big. Lots of buds coming in on both plants. I may remove the Roadkill female and just continue with 1 plant. It's hard to get the lighting right for two plants of such different size. A hard choice to make as I really like both my girls.

Very smelly... very very smelly. I made a little carbon scrubber with a PC fan, plus I got a little $5 ona gel thing from Walmart. Makes all the difference. Had the parents over for dinner and no smell was noticed. I have to raise my LED light and do a few other little things, but basically everything is running smooth. Plants look awesome, really impressed with the LED light and the savings on my electric bill.

Was going to do an ebonflow but my drip system is working great and I didn't feel like messing up a good thing. Using GH nutrients and bought some bloom booster stuff from the plant store.

Will post again at the 6 week mark. I didn't top my plants so there should be some decent kolas soon.

Cheers from Canada

Looks like you've got plenty of room for both, so why remove one?

If I were you, Id return the Bloom Booster. They're a rip-off. Plants do not use alot of P during flowering. Yeah I know it goes against everything you've read, but even Advanced Nutrients has stated plants do not use alot during flowering. They use more N, K, and even Ca than P, yet somehow they still managed to plug their bloom boosters:confused:

Best case scenario is that you dont lose alot of leaves and they do nothing. Normal case is that you lose lots of leaves. Ive tried Hydroplex and lost a shit ton of leaves after half dose just one time. Fox Farms trio of boosters are far worse than that. Although Indicas seem more tolerant to them, but Its still not helping any.

Google plant tissue analysis. I dont think you'll ever find a single plant that has high levels of P in it..

I may remove one plant for lighting and other reasons. Also, my bloom booster is not for added P increase but for minerals and other essential nutrients. But thanks for the interest! (I think I detect a know-it-all haha)

Halfway point so I thought I would post. Chuck D is loading up with nice nuggets . The Roadkill is looking fine as well with about half the buds and double or triple the smell. Both plants have nice resin development. Hopefully the pictures will show that. I changed my reservoir to maximize headroom for the taller Chuck D. I've been watering 1-3 times a day on a 15min timer schedule. I also keep my grow tent closed for the daytime and open it at night. So far so good on the 90W LED. Only 4 weeks into flowering and I'm super impressed with the resign and bud development. Thumbs thumbs way up for Cannacopia.
