People under the age of 25 or suffering addiction should not be prescribed medical marijuana, according to stricter standards being introduced by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.
A version of the new professional standards was published on the college's website earlier this month, but has since been taken down.

College registrar Dr. Heidi Oetter said the statement is being reworded to allow for some exceptions for palliative-care patients and patients with seizure disorders.

now it's only proposed, i think.. i'm kinda indifferent on it.
i mean, it's dumb, no doubt.. but i doubt docs look to MMJ first anyway, and they're editing it to allow in certain situations.. makes it rather a waste of time to write then though eh? why not just try to avoid giving scripts to youth unless necessary (which i'm sure is what's already being done)
*funny though eh; you can legally drink yourself dead at 19, but might have trouble getting an effective medicine at 24.

but one thing that caught my eye was some good news (maybe?)
Oetter said the new policies will also prohibit doctors from charging patients for completing a medical document prescribing cannabis.

"We certainly have learned from our colleagues to the south, particularly in places like Colorado and Washington state," she said.
"They have had instances where physicians have literally opened up hotel rooms to authorize permits at hundreds of dollars per head, and that type of unprofessional activity really tarnishes the profession."
now i don't think this is as big an issue here in BC -there are/were shady placed to pay to get carded though- IMO was pretty easy.
i do worry if this might make it harder to get carded? legitimately this should be good, but we all know the world aint exactly legit. might make it harder to find someone to sign (which is very sad; no cash no siggy.. from a health professional?) nah, i'm hoping this is good

We need a good constitutional lawyer to argue for the legislation forcing doctors to follow the wishes of the patient when it comes to treatment. A person needs the basic right to choose what he/she puts in their body and within reason, a doctor should not have the power to refuse. I can see them not allowing percocet instead of T-3's for a sprained ankle, but cannabis instead of an ssri or morphine is a no brainer.

If you make it back to BC, take the ferry and tour Vancouver Island. You won't be disappointed. Where are you from?

yeah its funny how much different it is from the states... we couldn't believe that basically nothing there has high fructose corn syrup... even the amusement places have like sustainable fish they serve and quality meats... nothing like here..

ya know it could be worse there is still states here that are non medical and people are getting 5+ years for posse ion .. 20+ for big time sales....hell even legal dispensaries in medical states are still getting busted daily here..

i mean even medical patients are getting locked up in some legal counties.. if you don't have a lawyer good enough to fight it theres no way to win.. its all related to the war on drugs.. no one wants to back down from it

Any chance Obama will de-schedule (if that's the right word) marijuana on his way out?

no way in the world... its up for the 2016 election they've been saying for years its going to be "decriminalized" but theres not a chance obama would. it would ruin his already tarnished view people have of him and nothing else would ever be talked about other than how the "black president legalized pot" .. unfortunately.. were not very wise here... theres congress members that still stand by the "pot is a gateway drug that leads to crime and harder drugs" even though our crime rates and arrest rates have dropped in the legal states.

seattle started doing a form of decriminalizing even hard drug dealers for their first time.. they basically get arrested .. booked.. go through a jobs lead program.. and if it happens again then the first time thing is clearly off the table but man how great of a step really is that to show how you can really give someone a break or chance to get shit right even if they were selling a hard drug....

Obama and harper are like the top used car salesmen in north america, they'll tell you what you want to hear... folks think they have some power and are directing the show but really they are just fearful employees working a job for the real bosses of this world..

i don't think we went there.. we were in vancouver mostly we went to the ski hill chilled there and in the village before the olympics were starting they just finished the luge track.. but I'm serious if anyone hasn't been to BC you need to make it a priority.. just vancouver alone its an amazing city.
