The captain gets it! Only thing I would add to that would be the Pontoons bring on an active photosynthetic state with the absence of 730 and the 660 diodes working independently of each other so that the conversion between Pfr and Pr can work in both directions. If you buy a straight 730 source for lights out but the 660 is not present at lights on you delay the Pfr - Pr conversion.

So if a plant is tricked into a faster sleep mode...by a couple of hours...wouldn't you want to add those two hours to your light schedule? BTW, my cheap ass 730 Epi DIY is still kickin!

Thanks chaz, I think many people don't understand this process. I've got a new area 51 XGS that I run 20 watts of 660 nm LED with and after lights out I give her 10 minutes of 10 watt 730 nm. I'm running at 13.5/10.5 right now.

Yes 660nm is no good, just didn't see it in the link......No worries, just don't buy that one. Freudian slip, I get the process, 660 is another topic of the layer cake.

All the other 8 links or so are all 730nm ;)

On a 9 week flower I would do about 2 weeks 12/12 with 730 nm then go 13.5/10.5 with 730 nm for around 5 weeks then the last 2 weeks back to 12/12 with 730 nm.
that. Cycle I have done. The plants did not like. Plus it doesn't make sense. Outdoor. The season doesn't go spring summer spring. the daylight hours don't revert. They gradually get less and less. It makes more sense to start with more hours then gradually drop to less.

only sativa strains imo work for this cycle. Indicas 12/12 from day 1.

I would love to see a side by side with clones. Any journals?

I agree with the start high then drop cycle. 'Naturally' makes sense. I thought my insane stretch was from TOO MUCH dark. Maybe should of started around 14/10 then drop 15 min a week. My indi doms bloomed easy under 13.5/10.5. I would love to try 14/10 with my new batch, but I don't want to raise my current cycle at all.
