battery idea

hi this is my first post was just curios because i want to set up a grow in an old building, only problem is electricity supply.

i wondered if you could run a couple of 125w cfl's off a few car battery's, there has to be some way of doing it if so could
you please give me advice on how to do this.

Car batteries are Direct Current. CFL's are alternating current. If you want to set this up then you would need a dc to ac converter box. Also you would need to replace the batteries quite often since your draining the battery and have no way to charge it. That means every day you run that battery, less and less power will be available. So you would need to recharge the batteries or replace them. It would be very annoying. Remember an alternator on a car helps charge the battery. Without it, your just draining it.

lol way to be super shady, you want to grow weed in an abandoned building that probably has 20+ nasty ass hobos walking in and out all the time.....

over in amsterdam they're jacking porsches for the headlamps to grow weed, may as well jack the battery while you're at it.

You shouldn't be trying to set up a grow in an abandoned building. You probably aren't old enough to be on this site. As someone said CFL bulbs run on AC and Car batteries are DC. You'd need a converter and something to continually recharge the batteries otherwise you will literally be constantly replacing them.

I started a thread on this a while back and everyone just said NO! so i gave up theres no batteries good enough really. i was looking at yatch ones but even they would need charging almost daily...so i thought i'd get a few but even that would be pointless for the yield you would get...so then i thought generator...but no just no...its not worth it. by all means try it i'd like to see how it goes but im sure it wont go well lol.

It's a terrible idea. A battery isn't an endless source of power. You're going to need something that will recharge the battery, that would usually require a power source and that would make his entire idea pointless.

.I myself would invest in a silent geny and run some decent lighting, in for a penny in for a pound, thats what i say anyway. I have seen some realy successful grows in old warehouses in the docks, but i think you have got to make it worth your while, to bother, anyway i hope you find a way round your problem and grow copius amounts of weed lol

I think, that it would be a better Idea, to buy 2 hamsters, [male/female] breed them/train them to ride on a multi station riding machine to generate [the 12dc] recharging amperage to charge the battery, that would be hooked to the inverter which would be hooked to a 110 ac CFL...

Wait, using your New LeCar idling for 6 months [18/6 for three months then for 12/12 for eight weeks]
It might get .5 gallon an hour... you could refill during night off hours...
You could if you used another battery [besides one under the LeCar hood] to charge and re charge...
It would be like the ultimate wasteful Hybrid power supply....

You might be able to use solar panels to continuously charge batteries like on a house but for the small amount of power cfls take why worry about it. For the price of the hassle you could buy LEDs.

LOT of work.
Since the CFL's are AC, you would have to run the car batteries to an inverter, and use solar panels to charge the batteries, unless you got a big battery charger, plugged it into the inverter to keep the batteries charged then run your lights off the other plug on the inverter.
Big mess and not worth it.
