Bathtub semi-stealth

I don't see a whole lot of threads about bathtub grows. When I do, they tend to be crazy over-the-top schemes, with stuff like venting through sewers and taking over whole bathrooms. I'm thinking for convenience, security, bug and disease prevention, etc., it's a no-brainer to use the tub in an extra bathroom for growing. There's always a vent, which is the first thing that draws me to the idea. There's running water, which isn't that important but very nice to have (in an area where the water is potable, not too alkaline or chlorinated, of course, and even then, still convenient). You can disinfect every surface, and even if you get mold it won't destroy a house. The downside is the limited space (2'x4', or whatever a bathtub is, but I'm looking at this in preference to a bedroom closet, in a situation where there is no place for a 4x4 tent or anything of the sort.) But as I said, I don't see a lot of people doing this, and it makes me wonder what terrible show-stopping fact I'm missing. People who have spare bathrooms still do closet and cabinet grows and go to some great lengths to deal with ventilation. So I'm posting here to ask "why?" What am I missing here?

Dude - the downside is that you can't take a damn shower. You want to walk around with dirty balls just to get a successful grow? Buy a tent and do a setup like everyone else. :cuss:

Extra. Bathroom. _Extra_. As in, spare, chosen specifically for the possibilities as a grow space. And I'm seeing possibilities that seem _much_ better than my tent. And in the place where I'm going, there won't be room to hide my 4x4x8 tent anywhere. I can hide this whole bathroom. It would be behind two locked doors and would have a a ventilation pipe that goes about 20 feet overhead. It's even air conditioned. Failing to see any downside here. (My dirty balls can be washed just fine in the luxurious main bathroom).

LOL about ur balls. OK then - I see what ur talking about. I'd agree the bathtub can work. Really no downside I can think of either. You've got light, warmth, humidity, water and ventilation. It's all good. Don't let soil get down the drain is all. Keep us in the loop as you progress - not about ur balls though - only the plants. :bigjoint:

You've also got a white background in most cases, good reflectivity.

I've considered bathrooms heavily. If I had the arrangement, I would go for it. I'd say go for it.

What are you talkin bout with a 20 ft ventilation pipe? All bathrooms have a little pipe that comes off, I think that's to release methane from the sewage line or something... not generally fed by a ventilation (blower/exhaust) which exhausts the bathroom air itself... you might want to check out where that exhaust fan exhausts to before using it as a primary exhaust... it would be good if you could get a carbon filter on the other end of the exhaust path since you can't really attach a carbon filter to the intake of an already-installed bathroom fan too easily... also you'll want to find out how powerful that bathroom exhaust fan is in the first place...

Hole in the ceiling of the bathroom with a steel vent pipe that goes straight out the roof. Little electric fart fan which is coming out, and a heavy duty inline fan goes in its place. So, carbon filter, then out the roof, way overhead.

Okay, it sounds like you're talkin bout a true vent duct, I just wanted to make sure. What's the diameter??
