Im a 1st time grower and a buddy of mine gave me some bat guano that he had already had in some clean sifted soil. what i am wondering is would i still need more nutrients or would this be enough for them. there on week 3 and seem to be growing strong about 6-8 inches. there on there third layer going on there fourth. i plan on leaving them in the veg stage for a 30-45 more days, is sooner better then later? I also want to know is how tall should they be, ive heard as small as a 12 inches to as tall as 21 inches. i currently have them on 18 on 6 off. do i need to top the plant..

some one please help

Can't help you with the bat guano I'm afraid, as for the size of the plants your only restriction is the height of your grow area and the need to keep plants far enough away from the lights so as not to burn the leaves (HPS lights need to be between 8-14" above the plant, dependant on wattage, or closer if using a cooltube)
Remember to allow for the plants to double in size during flowering, so when the plant is around half as tall as you can grow it, induce flowering by changing your light cycle to 12/12 and start giving bloom nutes. Some say start with bloom nutes the week before changing the light cycle, but changing both together shouldn't hurt it.
The only reason you would need to top the plant is if it was growing tall and spindly, in which case extra light would be a better solution. Many growers simply prefer to top their plants as it diverts energy from upward growth of the main stem to the lower nodes, making the plant bush out more. If used in conjunction with LST the yields can be increased significantly for a given amount of space.

before you put em into flower you should be using other ferts with a higher N, then throw the bat guano on when you put em into flower, another cheap fert is molasses when they start to flower, supposed to work wonders..

for my veg i just used a small serving of miracle grow (8=7=6) i know it wasn't optimal but it seemed to work fine, i just made sure not to overdoit

I like to throw it at the monkeys in the zoo. I think your question has been answered by others though:peace:
How exactly do you get to the monkey feces? Or do you just use your own? What form of feces do you prefer to throw?
