Bastard seeds

Someone gave me seeds from a neglected grow (great white, strain).

I've put them in a moist paper towel inside a ventilated plastic bag, and have been there 3 days with no sign of them cracking open.

I put the bag over an electric warming bed made for seedlings, but wonder if that was too hot for the seeds, or if the seeds were just garbage from the get go? Should I just be more patient? (5 days maybe?) What kind of plants come out of "bastard seeds" (I came up with the name myself, as I'm not sure how to categorize them).

i had soaked them in water overnight prior to have put them in the paper towel and opened plastic bag...

according to some sources (which seem to have completely different approaches) [1] [2], here's what I determined went wrong...

- heating mat is deffinitely too hot.
- i had placed them in a cupboard
- opened plastic bag is not providing enough air

i still have a bunch of seeds, so i'll address these issues and report

also check everyday keep tissue moist . don't use the heat mat . that's for seedlings when there potted after germination

placing a plate on top has been a clear "no-no" from CKS' instructions.

they're now in a paper tower, on a plate, wrapped in a dark fabric shopping bag, sitting in an open room.

i've also started soaking another batch of seeds...

Fk knows how I managed to insert my 'QUOTE 'inside the actual quote.! smoking too much!;-) ha..
I put mine in paper towel (moist-not TOO wet) and then put p/towel in plastic bag and blow it up and tie a knot -kinda like a balloon ,then stick in warm/dark cupboard&check in 48 hrs. Works well for me.. is your paper towel wet? If so swap seeds to another p/towel and slightly moisten as keeping them wet means they're cold/drowning etc..good luck and have some more patience -you'll get there.!

iv always places another plate over the top of the plate with tissue and seeds it creates the dark and a pod . iv always had my seeds pop with a good taproot
