basics to drying?

i had to cut a plant down today due to mildew so im trying this to see if it works right before i trash my whole crop

i rinsed the bud off with h202/water mix to kill the pm

now i want to hang dry the bud on a string in dark only? can it have any light? what is the reason you cannot dry it in the light?

my grow room is 75-82 degrees humidity apprx 30

have a fan fan on the bud?

does this sound about right?

Mold is a serious health hazard that won't rinse away my friend.
The spores are smaller that trich heads so ya can't even make safe hash.
The responsible thing to do is trash it along with any other effected buds.
My sincerest condolances.

i cant just toss away a lb of bud without trying first..ill take the risk , from reading all over the internet seems most people use it after treating it

Seriously it's yer bud you can do whatever you want with it.
I reckon it comes down to who you are,now ya know it's a health risk and yer conflicted or maybe yer not.............

I hear ya, thats why ill try first and make my own decision whether nor not to trash it. Better then calling it quits before doing anything.

smoked a bit of moulded shit b4 was sick for like a week. just felt hot n cold all the time was not good stuff but i guess its how affected it is

I've found that if the smokers and bleach don't werk there's very little a bucket of gas and a match won't get clean.

Mold grows better the hotter it gets (there being a limit of course) If you want to slow or stop the mould you need to drop the humidity and lower the temperature.

Also i would have thought that a fan blowing against mouldy buds will be ever so helpful in moving mold and spores and whatnot across onto other buds (a reason you don't want buds touching during the drying i think)

Not even gonna read your post! Basics to drying:

1. Cut branches off of plant
2. Cut trim and branches off of bud until its as trimmed as it will ever get
3. using a piece of popcorn bud on that hang it over a piece of string in an area with indirect air flow (say an open closet without a fan pointing at the plants)
4. Wait 3-7 days depending on how hot and dry the drying area is to a point where the stems snap instead of bending (or close to this where the herbs still carry some water weight but the stems might not snap quite yet, this way you know there is enough moisture that you can still cure them)

5. Be careful they don't dry out too much or you won't ever be able to properly cure them (if they dry out too much the bits that were still alive won't be able to expel nasties before they dry up/die themselves)
