Barneys Farm Pineapple Chunk Fem & Skunk #1 (NFS Hydroponics / CFL Grow)

Hey everyone! I've decided to open up my first grow journal on Roll it up now that my setup is actually half decent and I'm set on the way I'm doing things now. I've built a NFS (Nutrient Film Solution) hydroponic system out of 2in PVC pipe. Also everything in my setup was purchased from a local home renovation store so if you'd like to copy what I've done it's pretty easy. The complete cost of the build was around $175.00 to make the NFS system and the CFL light ballast w/ bulbs. It's is currently holding one Barneys farm pineapple chunk feminized, and two Skunk #1s'. The pineapple chunk is almost 3 weeks old. I believe it sprouted around may 10th, it was started in Fox Farm Ocean organic soil, and has since been transplanted to the NFS system about 2 day's ago. The Skunk #1 also sprouted about a week later and was transplanted.

Nutes June 3nd to June 10:
5 Gallons of PH balanced water w/ 14 TSPs of Fox Farm grow big & 4 1/4 TSPs of Fox Farm Open Seseme

NFS Hydroponics System w/ 150 Gal/Hr Pump & 12 CFL 6500k Light's generating around 19,500 lumens.

nice, im growing BF pineapple chunk as well, along with BF laughing budda. i only had 3 of 5 seeds pop of the PC and 2 of the LB. i started mine on May 3rd. check out my grow in the link below. it gets better further down the page as the exciting growing is happening. mine were slow starters, then finally started to grow a week ago.

Awesome subbed to the thread! I'm interested in seeing how the laughing budda comes out, I've heard great things about it! My pineapple chunk seemed like it took the longest to pop and get onto its feet to compared to the skunk, but once it did it seems to be doing fine. Did you notice on my PC that there were two extra leaves that turned yellow at the bottom? None of my other plants had those strange leaves and I have no clue why they turned yellow. Did your PC get leaves like that?

What's up guys quick update. I decided to go out to Lowes and buy some pullys to do away with the previous shitty rigged nylon rope setup and to slim down my light ballest to make it a bit more space appropriate. It's late so ill post a few pics tomorrow! I've also added a 30 gallon oxygen stone to keep water circulating.

I love Pineapple Chunk! I grew it out my first run indoors ever about 2 years ago. The pheno that I got was very stinky! It made my place smell of skunk up to 3 houses down from mine. I was so scared I was going to get popped at the time. I bought a carbon filter after that needless to say. It stretched a little bit for the first 25 days of 12/12. I have seen other people's pheno stretch like crazy, so keep this in mind. The buds turned out to be very dense. It was a moderate feeder if I remember correctly. I was using Miracle Grow soil and fertilizer at the time. I didn't have any signs of hermies. I ended up chopping mine down sometime between Day 56-63 of 12/12. I have heard alot of people say their's took like 10+ weeks to finish up. These are the more sativa leaning phenos I suspect if you believe these people. Mine looked more indica leaning to me. The buds were frosty as f*#k and had a sweet pineapple smell with a strong skunk undertone. It did have a kind of cheese smell mixed in there as well that was really unique. This is one of my favorite strains that I have grown to date out of about 20 different strains. It had a knock you down couchlock stone to her too. I'm not going to lie when I say that alot of people hate this strain though. I don't know if I just got lucky with the pheno that I got or what. I ended up yielding right around 2 ozs of AAA+ buds with smell, taste, and bag appeal. Anyways yours are looking good and healthy. Good luck!

Good to hear, I'm excited to try the finished product! This is actually my first real attempt at an indoor grow! I decided to go with PC because Barneys Farm stated that it's a very disease/mold resistant strain which is a plus for the area I'm in. The pheno I got smells bad already! I brushed my finger across a couple leaves and it had a sweet skunky smell just as you described, also I'm pretty sure mine is leaning towards an indica as well. Thanks for the heads up! I'm going out today then to buy a carbon filter rig from my local hydro shop. Any suggestions on brands to buy/setup? I've heard the sativa leaning phenos of this strain are pretty horrible to, and have bad stretching and hermie problems. Lucky mines staying short and fat so far, so that's a plus. If it ends up stretching I'll just try to lollipop the shit out of it. When it's late into flowering I'll add some of the Fox Farm Cha Ching and hopefully they come out dense and covered in res/crystals like the buds you mentioned. I've heard about the high off a few sites and some people have mixed feelings about it..., me I'm an everyday smoker usually on some good good. So the 25% THC I'll love, and the CBD it has is good for my anxiety/insomnia. The unique smell you caught is because the strain is a cross between some kind of chesse (forget which) and skunk #1 so it definitely has that potent heavy smell haha! Thanks for all the information! I believe my PC is behind from the Skunk #1 now, as it had more shock to the transplant then the other plants. As of right now I think it recovered and is starting to grow out again, so will see where it goes! Check below I'm going to post the growth update now.

subbed :) looks interesting.
Thanks! I'm going to try to keep it very updated and packed with information so other beginners can have some direction with these strains. So far I'm loving them both very easy to maintain and seem to handle stress.

Hey guys here's today's growth update/setup upgrades!

Not much of an upgrade, but this pully system I made is a hell of a lot easier then the nylon system I had before to move the lights. Only costed around 4$ to make so why not.

Pineapple Chunk (June 6 Growth) A couple of the leaves gotten damaged when the plant stretched and pulled the tape up from the LST (Should be fine.)
IMG_0486.jpg

Skunk #1 Plant 1 (The early LST training seems to be making this plant fill out very well for how short it is!)
IMG_0487.jpg

Skunk #1 Plant 2 (Also filling out well from the LST, but seems to be leaning towards a sativa pheno.)
IMG_0485.jpg

Plant height comparison from last update. (Not much growth vertically, but all the plants seem to be filling out.)

OP, nice looking plants. they do take a bit to get going, but then they take off. and x2 on the smell. my veg tent smells o'so good. they look like they will be very bushy, and not too stretchy, from the looks of my 2 and the LB im also running. tons of growth.

Thanks Demon! I've been following your grow every time I get on your plants are looking great. I bet the smell makes you drool I'm stoaked to see mine get that big. Hopefully the PC takes off it seems to have slowed down since I've transplanted. It's probably just stress, but I've noticed a decent amount of growth the last few days so I'll keep my fingers crossed. The Skunk #1 is taking off.

yup, slow intitial growing plants, imo. they love this ocean forest soil (amended), and hope they keep on going.

thanks alot man. its nice to have a couple people who are growing the same strain you can bs with and get some pointers.

what nutes are you planning on using on the PC? and you gotta love the short fat/bushy way the PC grows. it keeps growing better and better. do you have more shoots growing out under the regular growth/nodes?

My Pineapple Chunk has gone into flower. It's a weird plant... it "topped" itself at the first node more or less. It has a strange growth pattern like the Stacked Kush that I grew did.

Demon I'm basically using the whole fox farm collection. Grow Big, Big Bloom, Open Seseme, Beastie Bloomz, and Cha Cha. Different mixtures for diffrent stages of the plant of course. Currently using open sesame and grow big for veg. The rest for flower. I went out and bought 18 6500k spectrum 23 watt daylight CFL's today because I originally fucked up and bought the 2500k (for flower) spectrum so they should take off now. All my plants are staying short and bushy. I suggest you do some kind of training to your plants they look great but LST training will make them super thick that way once you go into flowering you're getting more bud pattern then just random little ones all over . It gives a good ammount of light to the under shoots for steady growth and prevents stretching as well. Keen I definitely hear you on that. My PC seems to be growing very strange compared to my skunk #1. Almost like the leaves are shaped and bending way different. I'm sledge hammer flushing my plants on the 10th so ill post a new update then!

yup, fimming and lst'ing everything. i already predrilled my pots. i think the PC and LB are a bit too young to start doing that yet, maby another 6" growth then the fim, the lst after the 3gal uppot 1 week before flipping.

Definitely a good decision. LST increase yields to the point where you almost have to. I've heard you can begin LST as soon as the under veg comes in under your bigger fan leaves is that true?
