Bananas?

Hey there. One of my four plants has decided to make nanners.:o I just spotted them last night. There were prob about 12 of 'em. Mostly near the top and on a few upper branches.

I cut out the little bastards and ate em. Kinda spicy.
  • My question is, will this suffice, or do i need to remove more than just the 'banana'? WILL there be seeds?

    btw, I'm 5 1/2 weeks into flower.

Dude they will just grow back ....the hermie pollen will pollinate your buds making hermie seeds and lowering the thc all around ,...better to dump the herm and carry on ....srry!

I understand they will keep growing back. But if I keep plucking them will I be ok or is there something else i'm missing here?

To be honest, I wouldn't mind chopping her down. It would give me more light on the other 3 plants, and I'd get some better weed than what i've been smoking.
This plant did a lot of stretching, and the trichs are pretty cloudy, and the pistils are mostly red. I wonder If she was just a fast finisher?

Well, i guess nobody else is going to answer. I just want to say that I did not chop the plant, nor did i separate her from the others. She has made 2 or 3 more bananas, and I pulled them off. If i find a few seeds in her, oh well.

One of my other plants has also produced a banana. I think it is because i had a few light leak issues for a while.

If your plant is full male, or a hermie that keeps putting out nanners, you should just chop it down. You won't find all the pods and then at the end of the harvest you will have seeds in all your bud.

Perhaps you and vostok are right. But I have been cruising around reading different threads on the topic, and some say keep 'em. Especially if you're in late flower, which I believe I am.

Late in flower, yea.. keep em...
.. most of us have picked seeds out of our weed before, not that big of a deal.
Just be sure to clean your grow area real good before putting another crop in it.
Better Luck next time.

Thanks. I'm hoping only the plant that actually made bananas will have seeds. I was on another site the other day, and read some interesting info which said the pollen from those late stage bananas is often not even viable. I'm keeping an optimistic attitude and hoping to see very few seeds.

If you are late in flower then carry on and don't waste your time by getting rid of your plant; if anything I would let it grow out, harvest, dry and remove all seeds and use them at a later time when needed.

thats stupid forget what they said ^^^^ don't chop it down. Just monitor it daily use tweezers to remove the lil nanners some of your bud may have seeds but hey shit happens. And all those seeds present will be female. And if your plant hermed as a result of human error not genetic flaw then those female seeds should be fine UNDER OPTIMAL GROWING CONDITIONS. everybody loves fem seeds. I have done it with my afghan and the resulting seeds were awesome. Goodluck but week 5 new don't cut it if you have other plants in the same grow room cover that plant making a single green house out of clear garbage bags and bamboo.

when a plant herms the pollination process isn't instantaneous the bananas will appear then it will produce pollen, swell, and ripen. Then they will start to burst and pollenate pull them out while they are visibly skinny and you reduce the risk of pollination. Monitoring it daily is key. If its your only plant then you can afford to give it that kind off attention.

I look my plants over real good twice a day. I have only found two more since my last post.

Yeah. Vostok seems like he knows his shit on here, but I did not take his advice. I probably would chop the plant if I had a bunch growing. I think the bananas had to do with a light leak which is now fixed.

Don't dump your herm unless you need the space lol. Just grow her out, collect what seeds you get, label them, grow them sometime you need bud (they'll have a higher herm tendency and will be female) --- as for removing the bananas. If the bananas were mature enough to produce pollen, cutting them off probably opened them up and spread the pollen; so it's too late, you'll have seeds (again, that's okay, it's no sinsi but it's just fine, I love seeds, they grow into weed plants). I think the key is to catch the nanners early enough and "pluck" them off from the base, or simply cut out that section of nannered bud. GL. Don't go killing plants for no reason, every cannabis plant can bring you benefits.

Thanks for the advice. I could use the space lol! As far as I can tell, none of them have opened. I nip the banana and a little piece of the bud behind it too. Time will tell.

Just wanted to update and say that 3 of my plants have now produced bananas. I found one on a third plant last night. One banana grew at the very bottom of a plant, and it opened up. Oops!

I'm pulling off about 3 or 4 per day total. I catch most of them while they are still green. It is getting to be a real drag. I spent over an hour scanning all four of my plants last night! I have not noticed any seed production yet. I'm really hoping I can harvest soon!

Yo, it's not hermi... people are stupid. If you are not seeing st8up male flowers, but instead have lil bananas growing out of the female flowers, this is called self seed.

It will produce S1 seeds from the plant that grew them. If the pollen hits any other fems of the same strain it will make a real fem seed.

Just watch out you don't spread that shit. I just had 1 auto start to self seed next to 6 photo females, I didn't wanna risk it so chopped the whole plant.
