i just had a 1000w HPS doing the exact same thing as you described... going out... then coming back on, then finally, it doesn't even come back on anymore.

they 'upgraded' me to a AgroStar magnetic ballast... and the guy i talked to said he has fixed over 1000 of these now and its always the same thing, the capacitor is failing and eventaully it takes the ignitor with it. They will either send you the replacement parts for you to do a quick fix. Or you will send it in to them and they will fix it. If its from HTG you're under a 2 year warranty, so that's the good news.

Apparently a fair percent of these ballasts experience this problem. I am told that it shows up rather quickly usually in the ballasts that are going to be effected, and that once fixed, it will run very well for a long time.

good luck, to you and me both.

(before i even called them i tried chaning which power line i was coming off of, changed out the surge protector, the timer, and the bulb. it was deffinitely the ballast fugging up.)

i just got 2 new bulbs from htg, to replace the dead ones i had. dont know what happened, but the new bulbs work fine, and they even upgraded my hps bulb, so i have to name brand bulbs (mh conversion as well)

i hear more and more stuff about ballasts/bulbs etc from HTG going bad very fast. usually within 1-2 weeks...IMHO it doesnt matter if there support is good if the products are shyte. try explaining to your plants "but HTG is gonna make it right, dont worry".. I think it doesnt matter how "good" there service is if your lights keep going out.. If your entire grow gets screwed up it really doesnt matter how the customer service is.Im giving HTG one more chance and am awaiting a new light as we speak. If this one goes out im just gonna get a refund and go elsewhere. I think I speak for everyone that I would rather have 1 good product that lasts 2+yrs rather than having to send back 5-6 products within that time. And honestly, there products MUST be cheap as hell ( there cost .. not the consumers price ) if they can stay in buisness after replacing and "upgrading" ( heh ) 7 out of 10 ( just a wild guesstimate lol ) orders over and over

just my 2c

^^^ yea back when i first ordered this i couldnt find one post saying bad about htg, now that i have my light everyone starts to come out and say theyre kinda shity. it sucks... i had to spend another 200$ on a 4 bulb t5 system just to keep my mother lit enough so the under growth gets any light at all... i now have 2 3 week old plants under one split socket with 2 26w cfls, and my mom and 2 clones under the t5 and 2 split lights... not good... decreasing light this far in... hope it doesnt fuck my shit up too bad...

powerplant daylight ballast. it does make a noise when it first fires up but thirty seconds later, nothing. btw it's made in PRC, china. my tent is also made in china.

stuff sold in europe no matter where its made has to conform to ec standards. those standards are stupidly high but i guess the consumer benefits.
