Bagseed under CFL 1st time grow. Comments welcome!

What's up everybody. I've been smoking for about 20 years. I've been reading forums like these for about 10. I started some plants once about 7 years ago but had to move to Alaska so I gave them away.

So here we go. I got some decent bagseed, nothing spectacular but good anyway. Germinated with paper towel method in sealed tupperware in the dark. I think next time Ill try in the light just for kicks.

All 4 seeds showing root after 3 days. I was lazy in getting some materials so one actually started showing leaf as well.





DAY 1
Potted into Jiffy seed starters. This first grow will be as economical as possible because I'm currently unemployed.
Currently under 1 23w 2700K CFL. I have 3 more of these and plan to get some higher Kelvin bulbs next week.



DAY2
Like everyone says these grow so fast! Stem looks a little crooked, but not too much of a worry. I adjusted the light a little for this.

If you can try to get some 6500k bulbs if your gonna use CFL's for veg and the 2700's
for flower.

Your right, they do grow fast, and it looks like your off to a decent start.

Yea I couldn't find the higher K's at the walmart I was at so I bought the 2700's. Should be fine for a week, then Ill get the right ones.

Yeah and Cfls are not a bad choice as long as you have enough of them

Right now I just have the one 2700K inside a dome reflector I had extra for my bearded dragon. It's over the 4 peat starts about an inch. The diameter of the hood is just a bit bigger to cover the area of the 4 peats. Think this is good?
I'm reading more as always but it seems like enough light at this stage.

Here's basically what it looks like for now until I decide where their permanent home will be.

Thanks for all your kind wishes. I am still using just the one 2700k cfl. Still trying to find a best place for the rest of the grow. Getting some higher K bulbs on Friday.

Here is a day 4 update:

All 4 have broke soil with one lagging behind as you can see.

On the one lagging behind, you could take some tweezers and remove the seed casing. It seems t be stuck there.

Good tip I did that today and it seems fine. Its a little behind the others but a nice green. Then others are over an inch and starting a 2nd set of leaves.

Slow growth right now. I think my watering is a bit off. Leaves are saggy but still a nice green. I had a fan on them all night and it completely dried out the soil. Transplanted into party cups and have under 3 lights. 2 6500K and 1 2700K. Can't upload pics from my g1 so ill get them up later.

Question - If some of the roots get smaller due to lack of space or watering issues, will they still be okay and keep growing bigger?

Dont know you might have overwatered it happened to my cheese. About the roots, it should be fine when you transplant them to a bigger container

Transplated into party cups about 12 hours ago. No noticeable growth in that same timeframe. I'm guessing they are getting used to the new soil and lighting, and from the root loss. Gonna let em dry out more before the next watereing.

I think 12 hours would still be too soon to tell.

One plant has crispy leaves about 1.5 inches from the light. Light burn doesn't seem possible at that distance? Other factors are that I live in the dry desert. Temps have been 75 to 85. I have a cold air humidifier to lower temps and add humidity. Any clues on the crispy leaves? The other plants are still a bit droopy where this one the leaves are curled up and crispy.

Right around 6 weeks of vegging now. One is probably 4-6 inches taller than the others. I have 4 total growing. Switched from cfls to a 4 foot cool/warm combo light for the rest of vegging. Got some white/yellowish spots on the lower leaves but other than that they are a nice green. I'm not sure if its too late to top so ill post pics soon to get feedback on that. I'm not here during the day but I know the room gets pretty hot 80-90 degrees. Theres not too much I can do about it except i have a big oscillating fan along with a cool air humidifier. It's not the lights that make it hot its just where I live. several weeks back I transplanted from party cups to i believe they're 8 inch pots. Ocean forest soil, and the 2 fox farm nutes..forget what they're called right now, big bloom and another one. Pics coming soon.

Here are some pics I took today. I think the yellow spots are bugs but any input is appreciated. There's also some missing holes in a few leaves. I got more aggressive with big control today. I am using a fruit/vegetable safe bug spray. We'll see what happens. The tall one I think is too tall for UB's topping but maybe the others? Any input about anything that comes to mind is really appreciated! Sorry for the 3rd pic being sideways, wasn't thinking.

I found a looper on the plant with the "holes". Little bastard was going to town. I hope he got a good buzz. Still not sure what the yellow spots are from. Trying to research more on that one. Wish I would have taken a pic of the looper. Grizzly had a good pic of one in the bug control forum. Overall they're doing pretty good; just gotta keep a constant eye on them.

Dont know what those yellow spot are either. The plus side is that other than that those plants are looking great, nice leaves and bushy plants
