Backup Extract Fan

Setting up a 36*32 closet grow in an apartment.

Thinking of running two fans together with a speed controller. If one fan fails, the other will just speed up.
Was thinking either,
  • 1 carbon filter and 2 fans in series to exhaust
  • 2 carbon filter and 2 fans in parallel to a common exhaust point
Has anybody tried doing anything like this?

I simply keep spares on hand. No sense in wasting electricity for no reason.

I run my fan on a computer battery backup unit. This won't protect you if the fan fails, but will in the event of loss of power.

In series, If one fan fails the other will either have to suck or blow past the failed fan. I don't think I've ever seen a fan fail, (you usually know if it's going out) but if it does...
