Back to the ‘70s: Did anyone ever actually try grafting cannabis to hops to fool the narcs?

I can remember reading articles in High Times or other hippie publications about how hops and cannabis are supposed to be closely related. Because people knew barely enough to recognize the shape of a cannabis leaf, some geniuses thought it would be a good idea to graft one branch of a cannabis plant onto larger hops vine. That way, the neighbors would think you were just growing hops to brew beer or whatever.

I personally never even attempted to grow hops because I really didn’t have any use for it.

Nowadays I doubt that anyone wants a hops vine anywhere near their cannabis grow because of that hops latent viroid.

No but have you ever heard of Australian bastard weed?
I have seen it mentioned but don’t know any details. I think I read something about weed that has leaves shaped like duck feet, which might be harder for cops to recognize. I’m lucky to live where I don’t have to worry about the police bothering me.

Its pointless grafting cannabis to anything other than more cannabis to keep many mums on one plant
@Star Dog has messed about with that a bit but from all i heard and read other plants are kind of pointless to use for grafting as it dont work or if it does its sterile and wont get you baked

Sure, it.s fully possible, some guy even interbred hops and cannabis a while back, it still looked like weed just all puny and scraggly.

I'd say your best bet is to grow some autos in pots and move them around the garden away from prying eyes.

Or grow full-on guerilla style :)

Totally not true, they will not interbreed!!! You can graft them to each other, but not breed them to each other. Any "crossing" would have to be done by gene splicing/therapy, and no where in the literature can I find where it's been done (and why would you want to?).

Try doing 5 minutes of desk research. It even happened in the wild.
Flowering plants are known as Darwin's Abominable Mystery for a reason, try looking up information on plants like Amborella.

The ''why'' is only limited by your imagination.

Tell ya what, just post a link to this hybrid and a picture. There’s one group that claims they have done it, but no genetic testing, and the conclusion was possible scam. Where did it happen in the wild, and what is it called?

Edit: BTW, I have a Botany degree, so I can tell the difference between a peer reviewed study and Broscience.

Hops and cannabis seperated from each other roughly about 300 million years ago no they will not breed together

Is it the subterfuge one? Idk i never seen any grows but angus has a cross of it so it must exist i cant imagine him putting it up if was questionable but i get what u mean there aint lots of grows of it around online so i get why u would think that

This the one he offers he does note that only f2 onwards will display proper freaky mutations however
