switch your foil, and get some flat white paint..Its pretty cheap from walmart. What kind of lights are you using? Make sure you get "day bright" 23W CFLs. You need as many lumens as you can get. Keep the lights about 2'' away from the top of the plants

i actually just took the foil down, i'm going to get out to lowes tomorrow to get something instead. i saw the thing about reflectivity in one of your grow guides and dropped a bookmark on it. as for the lights right now i have one 13w CFL and another bigger 42w CFL. i didn't know i had to get a specific wattage on the bulbs.

You just want the most wattage as possible. The plant needs about 3,000 lumens a sq ft. So if you are using CFLs you want to mimick the sun's intensity as much as possible. I prefer HPS/CFL combos, where I have a 150W HPS and 6 23W CFLS around the plants. The more light the more growth. You really can't give the plant too much light.

Just make sure your temps dont go over 85 and you should be cool. Dont over water too. That is a huge mistake new growers make.

Soon you'll be growing guru.

hha, i might get a HPS tomorrow at lowes too, i have like 10 bucks left over from gamestop. haha. and i've got a thermometer that has been staying steady at around 75 or so. and the watering, i've been watering them every two-three days. i'm about to take some more pictures after i transpant. i'd appreciate it if you'd check back here every now and again too see how they're doing. and one more question, how can you tell males from females?

If your goal is just to experiment and have some fun trying to grow a few plants then you should continue doing what you are doing. However, if your goal is to actually take these plants through the entire growth cycle, you in for some disappointment. You can't just toss some seeds in a styrofoam cup with some dirt and expect to yield anything worth talking about. First of all, you won't produce anything using a desk lamp. These plants require a lot of intense light to grow properly, and unless you're planning on upgrading to CFLs, you won't find what you are looking for at Lowes or Home Depot. The HID lamps we use to grow weed are specialty horticultural lights found in hydroponics shops. They are not readily available at your local hardware store. And like Smokey said, you need a precise light schedule. You can't just turn off the lamp when you go to bed and turn it back on when you wake up. The growth of the plant as well as the trigger for it to produce buds are determined by the lighting schedule, and this needs to be controlled accurately with timers. Basically, there's quite a bit more to it than just winging it like you are doing. Don't get me wrong buddy, I'm not trying to discourage you or knock you in any way. There's just a lot more to growing weed than what you have considered. You should spend some time reading the GrowFAQ to get yourself up to speed on the requirements of properly growing the plant. Also, when you're ready to begin a real attempt at producing some decent herb, post your plans here and we'll be happy to pitch in and help guide you through it. I know a lot of people out there can be dicks about it, especially to novices, but I'm always happy to help a new grower and I think you'll find that the majority of people here who know what they are talking about will be happy to lend a hand as well. Peace brotha!

haha, yeah! i actually have four CFLs right now. i actually spent a few hours yesterday on here doing some reading. i don't have a timer yet, but i was reading that i should leave the lights on 24/7 until they flower?

and my beds literally right next to where i'm growing, so i have an alarm clock. i wake pretty easy. so i can do a timer that way of when to turn them on and off. but thanks for all of that rolla8. i'm trying to get serious with this now. it started out just for the hell of it, but i've been working/reading like crazy on it. thanks for all the insight!!

Rameez123, i actually thought about that, but i'm kind of busy most of the time, i check bak here everyday though, i'll probably post pictures up ever three or four days or so. i'm not giving them any nutrieants though, just good old fashioned water and soil. thanks for the interest though!! thats always needed for a first time grow, BTW i have 15 of these little guys now :) i'm hoping to get at least 5 females =p

theyre almost two weeks now, i feel like they're doing pretty good. heres a few pictures to keep posted. i've been out of town for the past four days and had my roomate taking care of the babies. what a suprise, but i think some are in their terrible twos right now =/

a little yellowing on the end of the major big leaves and the first two smei circle leaves seem to be dying.

i'm not sure if thats a big problem or not, its only happening on one plant. the others are looking really symetrical. one has some skinny leaves and one kind of in the middle and one really FAT leaves. i'm not sure of the difference or whats causing this because i don't know the strains of the plants.

any one have any suggestions/advice/knowledge here??

heres a pretty big update! i was reluctant to leave my babies alone with my roomate while i went out of town for 3 weeks to see the girlfriend. i come home, find half my crop dead, haha. that i'm not too worried about i still have i think 8 plants. they were all wilted, one grew kinda funky and i have a little midget growing but they seem to be moderatly healthy for an all organic no chemical grow. if anyone has any suggestions on how to make them helathier let me know, but no NUTES! haha.
thanks guys :)

OH, can someone look at the first picture kinda hard and tell me wtf happened to that plant? the bottom fan leaf node is up higher then the main stem, it like split into three stems at three different nodes?
