Thanks, zig. we're tryin, and hoping that these plants finish within the 50 day mark. Dr. Greenthumb says 43 - 45 but from the looks of things, i think its gonna be 50 or more.... anyone have any thoughts, it would help... not growing before has its definite disadvantages that research just won't cover! Drella, FDD... anybody? help in the form of an educated guess would be very appreciated:?:

Klyde can I call you sweetie? Probably not.. :) First I am glad that after that weekend the thread wasn't crazy to catch up with, but I am left wanting :)

Second don't worry sweetie I am addicted to your thread just keep posting pictures and when they are super close I will start getting all excited. :) Usually the top buds like to finish first so I take them without a flush and quick cure some of it, not quick dry, but quick cure to get a lot of the young froggy taste out so you can get a decent hit.

All my strains are finishing at least 2 weeks longer than the "reported" flower time. With 30 plants though chances are you find a quick finisher in there too.

Day 34 Of Flowering

Getting Close!

So we had/have a little scare, all of a sudden a calmag def popped up almost overnight it seemed. We were a little lost as to what to do and since it is our first time growing we called on some advice from Dr Greenthumb. Klyde called him up and asked about it because we figured he would know his plants better than anyone. He always seems so grumpy but he did actually seem like he wanted to help. He told us our PH was too high and that we needed to lower it to 5.7 and to go in right before the lights turned on and lightly spray them with 2 teas calmag to 1 Gallon of water. I think we have stopped it from spreading any further, hopefully, but I guess we just have to wait now. Greenthumb made it sound like we killed them and that we need to hope and pray they don't die! I think that was a bit extreme because they aren't stunted and are still producing more trichomes everyday.

I cut 3 more clones, each time I have taken clones they are of different sizes, this way I can learn which is the best way. This time I took the largest I could which included the top portion of Mommie, which effectively topped her as well. They are actually looking better than I expected it does seem that the larger you take them the better they stand up(at least that is what I am getting right now). We also followed a different method of caring for Mommie. 3 days before we cut her she got nothing but RO water so there was no nutrients in her in order to build up carbs.

Klyde says that the plants in the flowering room are only needing to be fed and watered every 2 days and we are starting to look more towards harvest time. He has also been researching ways to hasten harvest time. We know we are going to end up losing a little yield but we are under a time crunch right now. We understand it is experimental but lowering the day light time gradually down to ten hours is the only option we have at this point. I have been checking the trichomes everyday and I found 1 amber headed trich, I'm sure there are more but they are no where near ready. We wont be cutting them at 8 weeks instead we will be cutting the Top Colas on May 8th and the bottom guys on May 12th, which will be Day 49 and Day 53 . Keep in mind that Dr Greenthumb said this strain is supposed to finish around 42-45 days. They are extremely fragrant now and Klyde has the exhaust fan turned all the way up.

Cross your fingers for us and hope for ripe buds! ;-)

Included are pictures as of today!

You guys are doing great, if you didn't say this was your first time people would be thinking you have been doing this for years. I have found that I prefer taking larger clones because once they root they need very little veg time. 42-45 days is a very fast flowering time. If they get done in that time and produce as well as he said they should this will definitely be a strain that I will be getting.

Well the thing is....he says it is very important to give them a 36 hours dark period before they begin flowering and after reading what everyone else says we decided against it. I have since read a post where a guy says he actually did get them flowered and done in that amount of time and he did the 36 hour dark period at onset. The people that didn't though were having to wait 60 plus days! This was for endless sky though not for Dope. There is nothing out there for Dope and we both really believe that we might get a slightly smaller yield this way but they may actually finish on time.

Oh and thank you for the compliment! :)

Lookin good B&K! My only precaution would be this: Made sure the buds plump up and the calyx start to receed prior to cutting them down. Best of luck!

What are you guys gonna do with the bud when it is ready?

Hey guys, stumbled on to this awesome grow journal!

I've always wanted to try LEDs. How much do you spend on electric a month? I can't make the landlord suspicious.

Alright MONKEY, your wish is our command!

We are in the home stretch, finally:blsmoke:

Here is what has been going on. Bonnie and I cut back the light duration to 10 hours at the start of week 6. So, for 4 days now they have been on 10/14. The ladies are looking wonderful, we followed the doc's advice and effectively stopped the progression of the CaMg deficiency. A lot of the hairs, now, are turning brown and beginning to recede, slowly but surely these babies are starting to plump and ripen.

I am still feeding them as much as they can take (about 1100 ppm) and have gone down to just flora nova bloom, bloombastic and sugar. I'll start the flush 7 days before we plan on harvesting the top colas. The plants haven't been feeding as much, so I'm down to every other day pretty regularly now. Almost all the gaps that were created by spreading out the plants have been completely filled by branching and new bud sites.

We estimate about 20 bud sites per plant will be able to be harvested successfully in less than two weeks time. Bonnie is going to update later today on the progress of the clone and veg room, and on differences in trichome formation and color since we reduced the light. So from now until next weekend we wait!!!!

Enjoy the new photos :peace: (I took them this time, and they aren't quite as good as with Bonnie's newer camera)

So I had told you guys about the clones I took on Monday, I figured I would load a couple pictures of all the clones we have taken so far and of Mommie. The newest clones are looking a little sad but I have come to expect that for the first week or so. Theses clones have been the first set that I haven't had to stake up, so it seems the bigger they are to begin with the easier it is to clone them. We started super cropping Mommie, so that when we get set up in our new place we can flower her and keep one of her clones to be the new Mommie. She looks really funny now but she is still growing strong and staying green. :leaf:

We topped the 5 oldest clones on Tuesday. We went 3 true nodes up and just clipped the top off. They all look great and now it looks like light will have an easier time getting to them and they have at least 4 main bud sites! Klyde read an article about doing this so we figured we would give it a shot, turns out it seems to be a good thing.

Now as for our big girls! As Klyde told you we have been running them 10/14. I noticed after the first night of doing this, the buds looked bigger and there were a lot more trichomes. The hairs have started to brown at a faster rate and I have spotted a couple amber trichs, less than 5% though. Klyde has been researching what makes flowers bloom naturally outdoors along with mj. Since we are trying to simulate the outdoors we figure we would try the shorter days and slightly colder nights. For us this seems to be working very nicely. I am very happy with how this is shaping up. They are defintely plumping up...I can't wait to make some amazingly delicious bubble hash from some of our crop! bongsmilie

Klyde I don't think they are going to be done by day 49, but it is terribly hard to see the color of the hairs with LED lights there. At a week from harvest I see a lot of brown hairs, my trichs are milky and I am waiting for the amber on the trichs. Is that what you are seeing right now?
