I would love to own one of these, I bet I'd kill myself in it the first week...

Yeah, that shouldn't be optional, the chute should come standard. Although with it being an option they're sure to get rid of a few more penny wise yuppies ;)
Planes don't usually come with parachutes as standard

Experienced pilots would probably not want the added weight

Looks cool tho

No but the training is so boring you will wish you did. :) I have learned to fly all kinds of things, including helicopter. They train all the fun out of it, alas. I have never been comfortable because the safety is not just a theory. It is a constant reminder that you may have already begun the terminal cascade of failure and not even know, yet. So, all flying is a bit hair raising for me.

And I have built a kit plane. It takes forever. Then my partner immediately smashed it the first day. Both sustained fatal wounds. Gosh.

The ICON has a very good layout for instruments. Angle of Attack is the main gauge like a fighter plane. No civil craft even have that yet.

So, really the only one to get me back hooked is Switchblade. (was I ever really unhooked?)

Ah, I don't know much about planes, thanks for the info, GW...
The Cirrus is the only production plane at present that has an integral frame parachute. It's saved a few, killed a few.

But, many to most powered ultralights have them, and they don't add moment arm, at the center of gravity.

For this, since the wings fold, I'd consider the ballistic rocket parachute to be cheap and ready, self service life insurance.
