This is my first grow. Im gonna start this to hopefully get some advice and learn from my mistakes.
I germinated some unknown bagseeds. got 10/10 to germinate and sprout. I pulled 2 because i didnt have room. for now i have 18 x 23w cfl's on the 8 left. I plan on ordering a 400w HPS next week, and have it in a couple weeks.

seeds popped thru soil on 13th - 14th

Any tips or advice is much appreciated.
 
i think ive done noobed a couple of my girls. I found a little bit of white mold in the soil on a couple. i guess thats why i started 10 :(
i only used about 25% perlite / 75% soil should i have gone more like 50/50?

prolly ok, just don't overwater em. did u drill holes in the bottom of the buckets? I'd drill a few on the sides towards the bottom as well.
 
ya i have holes all around the bottom about 1" apart. I will drill a few a little higher. Im definitley holding off watering them for a bit.
when can i top my plants. original plan is to wait for it to alternate nodes.
 
maybe give em a week to adjust to the nu containers, but anytime really. since they're so small just delicately pinch that apical node off, then they shld bush out for ya.

my biggest is on its 5th(?) node. it popped to stems out the side that all the others dont have yet. its only 5" out of the soil but its stout. I wanna keep it shorter than 33". at what height should i set my screen for scrogging?
 
yeah u can def pinch that top node off now, do the first one on that most mature one NOW and you'll see what up over the next week. As far as your scrog can't say rlly... consider the possibility that they'll double in size with the first three weeks of flowering then slow to pack on flowers. you def need more light intensity w those lg buckets.
 
i moved the lights up for pictures, i normally have them 2-3 inches away. I will be ordering a 400w HPS this weekend. and plan on getting another as soon as i can.
heres a rough sketch of my plans with the space I have. All though im trying to convince the wifewe need a nice 96x48x76 tent but we will see after i get this light and ventilate it. I wish i coulda been patient and not spent money on CFLs. o well :)

it's good that your plants have a head start even w the cfl's, they'll be bigger sooner. a tent wldnt be a bad idea.. nice diagram heh. maybe a switchable ballast so you can run a blue metal halide, at least for veg next round.
 
so i bought some jacks classic 20-20-20. im on day 20. I know is still too early but when is a good time to start feeding them and how much. also im very open to suggestions on flowering nutes.
 
Day 21
I think its gotten a little hot down by the plants the last couple days. I put another fan in the room and now i hope im keeping the heat off the plants. My thermometer said 82 degrees for the high but i had it above the lights. Humidity has been a little low too. around 35% - 38% the last couple days. below is a pic of a leaf with some burn on it and the leaves are a little curled up it seems.

the top to my biggest plant didnt seem to get too stressed from the topping.

Is a 600w hps that much harder to cool than a 400w hps? I think i may just buy the 600w with adjustable ballast?
 
I couldnt help myself and I got a 600w HPS and MH bulb setup. I plan on running the MH for a while and I talked the wife into letting me expand to 5'x5'x7' are now. I made a frame from pvc that i plan on covering in the panda film. This spur of the moment thing turned into a little investment now :) . o well im enjoying myself
