Autos

I have not grown Autos before but I have some ordered and should soon be here , Question --- I have my tent set up with Photos and 12/12 light set up can I grow the Autos in the same 12/12 lighting ? And what will be the results be if I do so ?

You can grow auto's like that but they won't grow nearly as fast or big. They're on a set timeline of 3-6 weeks veg before they flower. The shorter the day, the less growth.

Smaller plants and smaller yeild on 12/12.

Thanks , can you give me a Watts per square foot that is best for Autos , what I have now ---The tent lighting is at 34 watts per sq ft ---- all lights are LED and when I get the LEDs the paperwork states that they are the same as 3 times the light as a HID so I might have 102 Watts per sq ft ? I really dont understand how that works .

30-50w sq ft is generally considered the sweet spot for LED. The comparisons listed by manufacturers are only to give an idea of the light output compared to HID lighting. For example, just 1 of my 65w COBs puts out the light of a 150-200w HID. I'm hitting around 39w sq ft with 6 COBs totalling 390w from the wall, about the same light as 800w of HID.

Worrying about watts per square inch or foot or whatever has never been an issue for me, cause I'm not a scientist nor a commercial grower... And I do just fine with my raggedy ass lights... But then that's just me knowing that you can grow with ANY LIGHT as long as you know what you are doing... Do not grow your autos at 12/12 or you will be sorely disappointed in the end...

Honestly though, i think the 50w is more for low quality burples. With Cobs and good Quantum Boards, 35 seems like all you need unless you are the type that believes more is ALWAYS better.

you grow autos on a 18/6 light cycle from start to finish. good luck bud

Not necessarily. They can grow on 20/4 and 24/0(which by the way, Mephisto top dawg only getting competition now has been for last 5 years grow on 24/0 XD). 18/6 is just as fine as the others, but NOT a must.

Thanks everyone . everything looks good so far , now more questions . Can cuttings be taken from Autos ? And is one gallon of soil per plant enough ? I have 4 gallon buckets ( so 4 plants per bucket ? ) and Apx ten gallon tubs ( so 10 plants per tub ? ) Or would that be to many in my tubs and or buckets ?
