Autos too bushy?

Hey all

First time growing, learning along the way.
Coco with 30% perlite
Viperspectra p600
Sensi a+b bloom 2ml per litre of water since day 31 (1.5ml per litre day 21-30)
Age 33 days from germination
Humidity 50-55%
Lights 20/4
Amnesia autos

I am growing two plants, looking healthy and green, no nute burn or any other problem symptoms however they look very bushy since performing lst. I am worrying I have done lst wrong. A few pistils have turned brown on some stems. The growth seems to be nice and fast but I cant see them starting to flower yet and are short and bushy.

Light was around 15 inch away but have moved it away to about 25 inches.

Do you see any problems? Or do I need to continue being patient.

That doesnt look like an Amnesia, that looks like a full on indica dominant something or other. For autos i rarely defoliate until its into flowering. They look healthy dont mess with them

They were cheap as its my first grow so kinda my learning grow..

They’ll start branching out laterally as well as vertically soon during the stretch - good going so far tho

Okay great! Do you know when that will be? Should I be concerned over some pistils going brown?
Should I do any more lst at this point?

Im right there with ya. Growing autos for the first time and they are so damn bushy I cant believe it. I have my light 25" away at 100% and they have started to grow vertically as they are beginning to flower. Not sure if ill defoliate but I will say that I already miss growing photoperiods and having the wiggle room to adjust or change things

This is my first time growing all together, I may grow photos next time! I also read LED cause bushy plants, are you using LED aswell?
I only moved my light up a few days ago so am monitoring them! Hoping to get vertical growth as they flower!

The point of lst is to get a bushy plant. You want that plant as bush as you can get it before it switches to flower.

I don't let mine grow vertical at all.

After the stretch is nearly done or I'm ran out of room...then I let them go vertical. The bigger the canopy the better the result.

Im using a 600 watt photontek led and even at 50% power and 28" my plants are very stout. only one of them is really causing me an issue though. I dont know much about the correlation between led and stretch or lack thereof but I do know that autos have the ruderalis lineage. Combining that with the strains im running (Northern lights) its basically a double whammy of short bushy genetic traits. At this point besides being bushy the plants look good so Ive increased airflow with 3 fans and I imagine as I progress into flower lower leaves will start to yellow out and thin the canopy naturally.

exactly! should note that into the 2nd week since seeing pistils the branches with bud sites are beginning to climb but before that most of the growth was horizontal. If you have good airflow I wouldnt sweat it. Just keep an eye on any areas where leaves are laying on top of eachother

Okay thats great to know! All pics I see (well most) of others they are growing vertical with the buds but I don't see this yet. Guess because they haven't started flower? Which week can I expect this, they are 4.7 weeks old today.

Then on 3-17....so planted on 1-20. Pic taken 3-17....how ever many days that is

Don’t touch or bump the pistils.
Keep lightly bending your branches away from each other. I use small bungie cords sometimes to just lighty weigh them down or hook them away from each other.
now I’m in full-flower I stopped lst on my autos because they seem at maximum stretch. (Using full-image to make zoom easier. Early damage on one but I left the yellows on because I heard a plant-scientist say that plants retrieve the vitamins from dying leaves; the yellow leaves on the one are from the light shining from under- not the actual color. Just have for supplemental to really amp them up and extend “daylight” hours).

Magpie, yours look very tall compared to mine, which point do they grow taller like that?

Unless you are growing under sunlight, or with vertically-placed lights, vertical isn’t the best for light distribution over bud sites.
The sun is so bright and powerful that the distance between the top of a tall plant and the bottom is negligible if the in direct sun, though it does help to trim or train so the plant doesn’t shade itself- but once again, sunlight is powerful and penetrative).
For electric lights the diffusion over distance is far far far far far far greater so the difference in distance of a foot is a factor in growing indoors.

Those were the dates. Planted on 1-20. Pic taken 3-17. I dint feel like mathing how many days that is.
