Autopilot digital environmental controller keeps flipping off

I first had a ideal air portable ac and ideal air 70p dehumidifier on it. It automatically flipped off after 5m, then I tried just the ac which runs at 11.8amps and the autopilot still flipped off.

Any idea why this is doing it. the autopilot is rated for 14.8amps.

If that is all it can take how would it ever properly work, I must be missing something, unless it is completely designed for small ac's and dehumidifiers.

thanks
Fritz

Your pulling too much power imo.

It's only good for 15a. Your deheuy prob pulls 7a, your ac pulls 12a (or about those number). Have your ac on the controller, put your deheuy on its own seperate plug and use its own on board sensor to turn on and off.

I tried just running my ac and it still flipped off

How many amps is the ac

Try just plugging ac only in the controller. Is the outlet getting iverloaded?

I have the controller plugged into a combo powerbox, which is plugged into a 4 prong 40amp breaker. I tried plugging the ac (which should draw about 11.8amps) into the controller alone and it still flipped off withing 10ms.

Are the power wires getting warm or hot for the ac and controller, or the circuit breaker itself getting warm or hot?

It doesn't seem to be. When I was switching cords testing for the issue the cord seemed normal, not hot at all.

Also, thanks for the responses.

Fritz,
I had this same problem when I ran a portable ac. I checked and double checked the allowable amps for the controller and compared them to the ac and dehumidifier. I could never get the ac to be plugged into it without it shutting the controller down. At that time I bought a portable and ran it separate from the controller. I only used the dehumidifier hooked up to the controller. Now, I run all mini-splits, so the controller is a fancy digital environmental reader that still only controls my dehumidifier. lol I would be interested to see if someone could figure this out because I have pushed 80% of the allowable amps and it still would turn off. Good luck

I used to run a bdac2, portable 14k, and deheuy. I was only able to put the ac on the controller and the deheuy on a seperate plug. Worked perfectly.

Damn, I used a 14k portable and it wouldn't hold. I had to run the ac separate, lol.

Ya I can't get my ac to hold. Its a pain. As of now it's looking like a fancy digital wall reader. Should have looked into it a little more.

So I think I may have found a better answer about this. Autopilot recommends this, "When operating higher amperage units, such as an A/C unit, large dehumidifier or multiple HID lights, it is recommended to use a power expander (such as the Autopilot Lighting Controller)." Never thought about using an expander on it, but it makes sense. Hope this helps.

Damn, Im hesitant to get one because I don't want to have same issue, I have the Autopilot co2 controller it works great

I read something about that, I gotta look into the power expander a little more. That may be the right solution to the problem. Thanks

I've ran my dbac2 (autopilot master greenhouse controller copy) for 5 flower cycles, and now my current Auto pilot greenhouse master controller for 3 flower cycles with my 12.7a portable ac plugged into the unit with out any issues.

My guess is you have a faulty controller or a bad ac unit

I don't think so. Not likely since him and I both have the same problems. After a quick search it looks like other people may have run into similar issues. People have recommended using the controller to power on a relay for everything else. There is another thread in RIU discussing a few ways to go about it.
