automatic watering

ive seen them...never tried...just give them a good soaking before you leave...depending on the size of your pots and the age of your plants, you may be good for a week...

if youre in 1.5-2 gallon pots its gonna be tough cuz theyll go dry within 2 days...but anything above a 10 gallon should be ok with a heavy watering right before you leave...you may see some wilting but nothing that a heavy watering wont fix

my $0.02...good luck

digital timer-htgsupply.com
rez-anything that can hold water
1/2 inch tubing
brass cupplers(forget what there called it so you can atach the 1/8 in tubing to the 1/2)
1/8 in tubing
drippers

the whole idea of having the digital tier is so that you can make 1 min intervuals.

after you have this assembeled measure how much water comes uot per mine and then set the timer to come on every 3 days for how ever mmany mins you want.

My wife uses aqua globes and they work great. They don't dump the water all at one time as someone suggested in another thread. They work by capillary action; when the soil begins to dry out, it sucks out water gradually from the aqua globes. Sometimes low tech is a good thing - and one less damn thing to plug in.

i've got pots about gallon and a half for my ladies in flower and i'm wondering if i'd have to put 2 of them per pot if i'm gone for a week and don't have any other way to water..

Have you went a week without watering before ? I usually only water once a week to keep from overwatering, most of the time I do water twice a week. My point being you will probably be OK unless you are growing hydroponic or have them under some big lamps in a room that gets hot.

I don't think you'll need a bunch of special equipment, just give it a good watering before you leave and another whne you come back. How often are you watering now ?

i water about twice a week. i don't like to water once cause i think they get too wet and don't like it. i water till water just starts come out of the bottom...also i have about 8 vegging in smaller containers and they definitely need to be watered more than once a week.

haven't updated in a while and my ladies are getting yellow already i don't know from pH or soil problems/fertilizers or what! still i should get 5 zones off em which is plenty for me, and i'll keep getting better and smarter, 3rd grow, 4th 5th...

Hey SB, I just saw these things at CVS Pharmacy last night; they have a "as seen on TV" section and they are in that.

But you can water your plants, load up the aqua globe and go out of town for a few days and not have to worry about them. It's not like he's wanting to leave them for a month.
