Autoflowering Seeds questions

hi can someone help explain what exactly autoflowering plants are and how they grow
do you just leave your lights on 18/6 the entire grow
do they flower when they are ready
can you clone a auto and veg it or do they just flower and die
can they go male
is there a point to using them if you already know how to grow a plant
that's the main things id like to know

in sure this has been asked many times but cbf looking though all the old post for like 6 questions

You use 18/6 lighting all the way.
They flower automatically without changing their light schedule.
They can't be cloned, well they can but, they only have the lifespan of the mother plant and so taking clones only hurts your yeild from the mother plant.
You will need seeds for every plant you want basically and most autoflowers are also fememized.

ok thanks that's not good for me ill get normal feminized seed

Hawkems, is correct...……., totally agree with his comments,...…..a 6-2 or 7-1 light cycle will also work well...………& if the breeder says it takes 80 days from pop to chop , don't believe them , add 15-20 days minimum
The veg stage is critical , get it wrong & your end result will suffer , big time, ………& I don't believe the yield claims breeders , make...………have a go & good luck

ill try them out one day but not for now

what would happen if you took a auto and pollinated it with a normal male. will the seeds still be autos

Some Phenotypes would be in the f1 selection. You'd have to probably go f2 or a bit deeper down the breeding pool to consistently have auto traits.

Breeding is an art if you start wanting to express defined traits, otherwise you are just pollen chucking to see what happens.

im still deciding what strain of seeds i should buy and considering how much i have to pay for shipping id prefer to buy a small amount and make them produce seeds for later grows

autoflowers are off the table for me but feminized seeds should be fine considering i can keep clones going

if i took one plant from a feminized seed isolated it from my grow room and stress the hell out of it. will it produce pollen i can collect then pollinate the other feminized plants (same strain) will that product the same seeds or will it promote bad traits to come out

What kind of a strain are you looking for?

And yeah overly stressing a selfed seed can have complicated effects like genetic hermaphitism ect. But don't quote me there.

I know colloidal silver is a decent method, I'd just look up how to make feminized seeds and see if it's something you'd like to do.

Similar methods, as to what you have described, were used to produce gorilla glue#4 if I am correct.

honestly will probably go with something in the cheaper range that's most conmanly orders from seedsman for my 1st order im almost 100% sure that's what i will be doing but if forcing self pollination is a option i would be considering some of the more unique strains to make them produce seeds for later grows

More specifically what effects are you looking for in the strains you want. I mostly know breeders who make really good regular seeds, however I can still point you at a strain.

Indica Afghani x Northern Lights is what im considering

i dont go for the % reading as they can change due to growing talent and environment

sure Afghani x Northern Lights says its got a 21% thc and a 1.1cbd content but they will very so i see its pointless to go by such rating

realistically im seeking a faster flowering plant more Indica dominant plant is what id prefer

i used to grow pure Northern Lights but over the many years of random pollination from unknown strain my seeds are just random crap now that have too many hermaphrodite traits what sucks considering i have thousands of them in storage
i am getting sick of wasting my time growing them out just to kill them off 2 weeks in to flower also growing 10 plants isnt a smart option to keep the ones that don't hermaphrodite on me. even the ones that don't hermaphrodite taking clones from that plant isnt preventing anything

time to start over with some stable strain

I always grow autos in my veg room with lights on 24/0 schedule. You can't give an auto too much light so keep her lit.

Good luck, BigSteve.
